Hello, I have done a search but can not find anything related, can I be the only "unlucky" one?

I got a bag that I really like, advertised as very dirty liner, what is not a problem I have cleaned all kind of gross already, I was willing to try. To my surprise when I got it it has a nice round cigarette burn hole in the yellow liner, that was not visible in the pictures.

Before I return it and because I really like it, I would be willing to keep it if there is a way to fix it. It's at the bottom of the liner. TIA

Wow, you mean somebody actually put a cigarette IN the bag and burned a hole all the way through!? Depending on how much you love the purse, how cheap it was to begin with, would depend on the outcome. You could contact. User about giving you back some $$ as the buyer wouldn't want it back for sure. If you keep it you will have to sew a patch or things will disappear through the hole. Yes, that's a new one for the books. That purse came from a abusive home!

mrk2014, you have cat scratch marks and watermarks on the leather. Pretty hard there, but if you actually love it ( nobody else will prob outbid you) and you can live with a less then perfect outcome, it could be worst. After all, you can keep catscratch side to the inside and bottom down so nobody but you sees it.

I assume this was for me not mrk2014 :)

How would I approach the water mark? Would dunking it help? The scratches don't bother me that much so I can live with it!

Water might help, if it really is a water mark it probably will. If it was caused by something else, it might not. I would say weigh how much the bag costs with whether or not you're willing to live with it if you can't get the mark off.

She said price is negotiable, make an offer!

Thanks ledobe :) I'm waiting for it to be authenticated in the forum. It's a bit smaller than I initially thought, somehow my brain can't reconcile the apparent size in the photo with seller's actual measurements :what: so I'm hoping the authenticators might know more about it so I can find more pictures to compare...

I would try cleaning that water mark with vinegar. You might be able to lighten it, then once you condition it, it won't be as noticeable. For the cat scratches, I would sand them lightly to get rid of the rough edges, then fill in the scratches with leather cement. I think it would be difficult to get this perfect.

Hi, I need help with this 2 old bags. Would really appreciate any input/guidance.

Does anyone here know how to smoothen this crease on my Coach Willis?

And here's another vintage that I need help with - Boonie Cashin hippie shoulder bag. The color has faded in a few places but most obvious around strap

Loosen thread in few places, is it advisable for me to send for to cobbler for stitching?

I'm not sure that is a crease. It looks like a vein. I don't think there is anything you can do about it. It is part of "scars, scratches, veins, and wrinkles are natural markings..."

For the second one, you can use acrylic paint mixed with conditioner. Just a drop or two of paint to a huge dollop of conditioner. I usually use Lexol for this because it is thinner and easier to mix and spread but you can use other products.

For the stitching, you can do this yourself, if you don't mind some sore fingers, and you have a needle, thread and something to help push the needle through the holes. The holes are already punched, you just have to guide a threaded needle through the same holes.

- Aww sad for the Willis, I like this bag a lot. It can hold a lot more than I expected.

- Any particular brand of acrylic paint u would recommend? Thanks a lot whateve [emoji4]

For hand stitching, you need a thicker thread called "button" thread that can be bought anywhere, even WalMart. Cobblers use a leather palm glove, but a thimble will do the job. It's easy. It you use 2 needles you can even make it perfect. The under needle does a mirror stitch as the top, going in the same holes. Use a single knotted thread.

Sorry for asking about a different brand, but LV people don't seem to be as experienced with dunking. Has anyone ever dunked LV epi leather? I have a '92 and an '05 that need dunking.

Has anyone had success dunking an Ali legacy flap shoulder bag, style 10327? I just got one today, and it smells like perfume.

Thanks! :smile1:

What is dunking? Sorry for asking stupid question. [emoji47]

Fully submerging the bag, optionally with mild detergent, for the purpose of cleaning and/ or reshaping the bag. If you do a search on this thread, some of the more experienced members have posted guides.

Personally, I really like dunking to clean pre-loved bags before I use them.

ETA: It's not a stupid question. I never heard of dunking (and never acquired pre-loved bags) before I found this thread. :smile1:
