Is this how it's supposed to look? I like the darker color better, but I don't think it's really a true mahogany.
It looks like British Tan. Did you dunk it? It looks very mottled as whateve said. You might have to start over.

Hello!!:D

It has a few more of the brownish spots on the front towards the middle and right side. They are not extremely noticeable, but I get so picky lol. I only paid $102 plus shipping for it. I do not have a yellow bag and I have started to collect bags with legacy stripe fabric inside so I went for it despite the fact that I normally stay away from vachetta. The rest of the bag is perfect.

I was thinking of putting some watered down yellow acrylic on it and letting it sit for a bit and then dabbing it off to see what happens, you are right it probably will not match later so I might just end up leaving it. It was between this color and a camel one and I went for the bright yellow. I should have known, bright colors never work out well for me to rehab.

Thank you for your advice. I do love the bag even though it is a little spotty :p

well hellooo! are you talking about the yellowish brownish spot on the front left? are there more of those that are less visible? If conditioner didn't budge it at all probably nothing else will, so I wouldn't bother with dunking unless it's really dirty everywhere else, which it doesn't appear to be. When you dunk this leather it doesn't always dry evenly and you might end up with more water spots. and possibly more darkening of the leather underneath.

Such a pretty color! I think I would let it go too, it doesn't seem noticeable at all to me.

Ok I said I'd post about my Pond Legacy Satchel and what I've been working about it so here I go. :)

It was fairly clean when I got it so no reason to dunk it, however-there was a water stain on the bottom. If I had to guess it was sitting somewhere and water was spilled near it and seeped underneath, so it had a slightly darker waterstain over about half of the bottom of the bag. Not very noticeable, but the seller didn't include the info in the auction till the last few hours. I didn't notice he'd added the information until after I bid, but for $75 I probably would have chanced it anyway.

Anyway, I conditioned the bag and it didn't make a difference so I decided it wasn't that bad and since it was on the bottom and really not noticeable even if you happened to look at it, I carried it a few times as is. Then someone posted here (in this thread? I'm too lazy to check.) about NOT using saddle soap which reminded me I had successfully used saddle soap before on something to remove water spots so I decided to try it again-what the heck it's on the bottom!

I have Meltonian saddle soap and I just put a little bit of water in the can and picked it up with a soft cloth and rubbed it along the bottom. At first it didn't do much but I kept at it and guess what? It worked! I let it dry over night and it was still gone so I actually tried along the top panel of the bag around the zipper and it may have helped with the yellowing some too. I wouldn't expect that to be permanent, I think the yellowing will come back but for now at least it seems to have helped.

So it does have it's uses. It really is just a conditioner thats used with water, I was thinking that a damp cloth with some BlackRocks might have the same effect. I'm not that familiar with a lot of the brands but I'm happy with the Meltonian and I like the scent too. I'd post pix of the bottom but the stain was pretty hard to discern so I didn't even try to take any, and now it's gone so, nothing to see! She did want her picture take though so here she is!

It looks like British Tan to me. The color on my iPad could be off of course.

Thank you. I think I might have gotten London tan confused with British tan.

It looks very mottled. What kind of conditioner did you use? I've had this happen to me with Leather Honey. I think I redunked. You could try heat. Maybe the conditioner just hasn't soaked in all the way. It is normal for the color to darken a little from conditioning.

Thanks! I used Leather Therapy. It has evened out a lot since this morning (which was 24 hours after the last conditioning). I think I'll give it another day and see how it looks tomorrow.

Thanks! I dunked it twice before conditioning (using Dawn the first time). I didn't get around to conditioning until it was bone dry after the first dunk, so I dunked it again. Could that be a problem?

maybe it just felt too dry so you used a lot of conditioner and it didn't soak in evenly. I would give it awhile before I redunked, it might soak it all up and look fine.

So pretty! I think this might be my favorite Legacy color. Now tell me I don't need it because I have mineral.

Wow, that's a gorgeous bag. I've got saddle soap for my saddles. I might have to try it on something other than a saddle sometime.

It should even out as it soaks in and a buffing before and after the next coat of LT will help. If that doesn't do it then Obenauf's will.

I think I read somewhere that saddle soap is not recommended for purses because it can go mouldy if the residue is not thoroughly rinsed off or removed. I guess it's not an issue for saddles because it's constantly buffed and worn off with wear.

Ooh, ok. That is very good to know.
But Ledobe's pond Legacy satchel is still awesome. That color is perfect, and I love that version with the buckles. The turnlock ones remind me of Johnny Five.

I recently purchased a Dakota Cartwright and was wondering what conditioner is the best to use on it. Due to the texture of this particular type of leather, I feel as if there are certain products that may not be acceptable for use on it. Am I correct in thinking this?
