You guys are such miracle workers here! I have popped in and out and always get wrapped up in the comments and pictures, then forget that I was going to post and ask questions!

I gave this purse a bath and it is now all streaked and looks like carp! It has several dark places on it that are "L" shaped. Unknown the culprit but looks like the width of a thicker sharpie or magic marker. Doomed for a dye job? Suggestions welcome. It has already been conditioned twice.

WhatEve thought maybe it had shoe polish on it, but I have just started this rehabbing so I don't know what I am looking for.

I would wipe it all over with industrial strength acetone. Start with the darker spots first. Use a terry towelling cloth and apply firmly in the same direction. Don't panic if colour comes off. Then wash it and rinse it again and when it's almost dry start the conditioning process. Don't forget to post pics here!

Hi everyone! I've been so busy for the last several months I can't keep up with all of your lovely work! Two.time I'm having total bag envy over that Hudson-- and your dappling of sunlight and background of green! They are calling for snow tonite here. If it actually comes it will be our first of the season.

So thought I'd post a group of bags I finally got to work on this past week. The Court Bag was the biggest mess to start with, and it still has some unevenness but that's the beauty of patina, right? Here they are: a City Bag, a Shelbourne and a Court Bag, all in British Tan, before and after.
Thanks. Gorgeous job on your three. It's so rewarding isn't it?

Don't be envious about the dappled sunlight. It was 35C. Today its nearly 40C and we're day 5 into the worst bushfire since 1983. Don't know if news of the Adelaide Hills fire has reached your part of the world but it's been pretty scary. It's 20km from here and our town should be OK but friends in nearby towns have evacuated and at least 3 of my daughter's school mates have lost their homes, and so have another 23 families. A bit of snow would be very welcome!

I've heard on NPR radio (my daily rehabbing companion) about the fires but didn't have a connection to the story until now. I'm so sorry for your friends and hope the fire is controlled quickly. Be safe!

Gorgeous! That may be the motivation I need to keep working on that stinky saddlery bag. Does anyone have experience washing bags in a watered down bleach solution? I'm starting to wonder if its mold thats buried itself into the bag. The bag has dark spots on it, and vinegar doesn't seem to do anything. I tried epsom salts but now it just smells like musty and epsom salts! (sigh.) I saw on TetonDeb's blog that she's done it, so now I'm wondering if that'll help the mold that just won't die! Putting it outside isn't an option this time of year--the last couple days have been super windy and tomorrow we're getting our first real snow of the season.
I haven't but I'm sure Debi from Sacs Mag will be happy to help out with advice about ratio of water to bleach etc. You can contact her through her blog or pm her via tpf.

wow!!!!

Thanks for the tip! I'm debating if I should just save it in a document for later so I don't have to pay for it right away.
You don't have to pay until the listing goes active. If you sell on ebay, drafts or expired listings go away in about 60 days so then it is a good idea to save it somewhere else, but that isn't the case with etsy.

Ooh, that's so scary! I'll be thinking about you and hoping you stay safe.

Very nice!

Beautiful bag!!

Another beautiful, beautiful rehab job!

Thanks maramd

Thanks whateve. We'll be OK I'm sure. The latest news is 38 homes gone. Conditions tomorrow and Thursday are forecast to be really hot with gusty winds. Fire fighters from interstate are helping out our firefighters. Water bombers are flying over continuously. Luckily people are better prepared than previously so there's been no fatalities except sadly for livestock and native animals

One of the saddest stories is the loss of a boarding kennels and cattery. The owner works for the country fire service and he was away fighting the fire on another front when it came through his property and destroyed his home and business. They got all 40 dogs out but all 20 cats perished.

Here's a better story

For a while I thought she might be saddle but after soaking up coat after coat of LT then Obenauf's and Black Rock she's tan I think. (That's sunlight not lighter spots on the front flap).

And after bath, Leather Therapy, Obenauf's and Black Rock . I love the patina!

And finally, tan Hudson Bag from the Lightweights line. I found a before pic from when I first received it back in May last year. http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-cl...857690-153.html?highlight=hudson#post26716962

An easy rehab. Bath and conditioner.

It's stamped 'IRREGULAR' inside but I haven't worked out why.

They are gorgeous! I love that patina too.

Beautiful! How are you liking the Shelburne? I think it's such a neat bag and holds way more than you'd think. I have one in black.

Thanks maramd

So sad! Glad you are going to be OK. 40c today? That is hot! Don't see that too often here. It was -7f here this morning, which is about -22c I think? Certainly not the coolest is ever been here. But chilly for sure.
