Need to polish out scratches on the brass turnlock plate. I have a dremel tool. Which tip is for polishing metal? Or, should I just call Coach and get replacements?
Send Coach customer service an email and ask for a new turnlock. (I got one a month or two ago for my Lenox when I broke a prong off the turnlock.) It took about a week for mine to arrive. SO much easier than trying to deal with the damage.

Email it is. I'm all for easy. Might play with steel wool and different dremel tips while I'm waiting for a new one. Thanks for your help.

So I need to be talked off the ledge when it comes to cleaning a tribeca hobo that I'm planning on giving my Mom for Christmas. It's British tan outside, with black cartouche lining. Should I just treat it like any other bag when I dunk it, or is there anything special I need to do because the lining is darker than the leather? Thanks in advance :smile1:
I think there is a chance the lining could bleed. Maybe you could pull it out, wet it with warm water, then blot with a paper towel to see if any color comes off.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but I recently aquired a vintage satchel from a thrift store and it was quite beat up! Has severe scratching on the leather and discoloration.I bathed her, with some saddle soap and soaked her in dawn for 30 minutes rinsed, then soaked in clear water for 15. This is the third day drying so I have started to apply Apple leather conditioner. She is starting to look better but the scratching is still really obvious. Is there anyway to soften the scratches? Should I just continue to apply more coats of conditioner? And will the conditioner help restore some color at all? A lot of questions but figured I'd ask. Btw if it helps this bag seems to be in the color British tan but I'm not 100% I'll post a pic of the inside and outside. Thanks! Inside is still more wet so I think that's why it's so much darker...maybe

That is a nice bag! That style doesn't come around very often. In my opinion, Apple conditioner isn't heavy duty enough for vintage bags. If it were mine, I would use Leather CPR or Leather Honey, followed by Obenauf's and Blackrocks Leather N Rich. The scratching doesn't look very severe. A good conditioner, or combination of conditioners, will make it much less noticeable.

Thanks so much! Do you happen to know if any of these products are sold in retail stores in the US?

I've never seen Obenaufs and Blackrocks in stores but I think someone has found Blackrocks at an equestrian store. Leather CPR is available at Bed Bath and Beyond (but it costs more there) and sometimes at Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Tuesday Morning, and some saddle shops. I buy everything but CPR online. You could buy the CPR now to get started and order other items. If you get nothing else, in my opinion, Blackrocks is the most important one to buy.

Other conditioners that get good reviews are Leather Therapy and Cadillac.

Hey there everybody! I'm curious, what is good to clean patent leather? Just a damp cloth? Does it need any sort of care?

I just picked up my first patent leather bag. It's more of a crinkle texture which I like. (Non-Coach) thank you!

A damp cloth is fine. Patent leather doesn't need any care. You can use it in the rain. If it gets dirty, just wipe it off. I've heard that if it loses some of its shine, you can use vaseline sparingly to restore it. However, if it does get stained, there isn't anything you can do about it.

Awesome! Thanks so much! Looking forward to cleaning it. Just has a few smudges that look like they will come off.

Hello. I purchased a very loved and used Lindsey today. She has some discoloration spots mainly on the bottom with one on the front. I only paid $15 so I don't mind the marks. But if anyone has any good ideas for making them less noticeable, please let me know. The inside is okay, so I don't think I will be doing anything major but if anyone could help me with this rehab. I would be very grateful.
