This is a little OT, but, since I know some of you out there have made tassels out of junked bags. I'm wondering if anyone has made poofs or anything similar out of old fur stoles or jackets?

PS: Here's a picture of newest aquisition to keep on topic. A Pocket Bag from 1990 I believe. And a classic pouch I'm still working on .
I don't have any old fur jackets so I've never tried making anything out of them. If I had one that was beat up, I think I would make boot liners. Fur coats always sell for cheap at thrift stores. Maybe I should buy one and make keychains like Fendi monsters.

The pocket bag is beautiful. Does it hold much? I love the look of this style.

I like the idea of the Fendi monsters! We have a mission now!

The pocket bag is a great size! I'll have to do a comparison tomorrow. But it's almost the size of a City Bag, just not as deep. But it has the gusseted pocket under the flap. I think my Kindle will fit in there. It's really cool. I love it when I stumble across something like that.

More pictures tomorrow!

Fun fix...crappy turnlocks. I also added a top handle! Details HERE

This is truly an amazing labor of love!!! Beautiful job :)

I love Obenaufs LP. The oil can get rancid...learned the hard way. I used leather therapy on a nubuck duffle and a large flap. You have to apply it very evenly and it takes about a week to dry but the results are amazing. I buffed mine with a dry terry cloth to bring up the nap. (knap?)

+1 on the Obenauf's...I've had it work wonders on several bags. And thanks for the LT/nubuc tip. I need to add this to my arsenal.

Last month it was navy, this month it's black! Finished these yesterday. Slim Duffel Sac 9060 (huge bag), City Bag 9790, NYC Companion Bag 9300, and Sonoma Small Bucket Natural Grain 4907.

I haven't quite finished the City Bag as it needs repair to the strap as stitching had come undone, and I discovered the strap keeper is missing.

Would someone please post a pic of a strap keeper of a City Bag as I will have to make one.

Beautiful, as always!

As requested here are some more pictures of the Pocket Bag. I've used a City Bag for comparison. Let me know if you have any questions.

They are very close to the same size. My Kindle fits in the gusset pocket which is great.

Ok guys I need your help!! I got my big clutch bag thing (I measured about 15in across in width!). Today I tried water, didn't work; tried some target wash wipes, no go; tried some leather therapy wash, no sir-re; when I just went with straight rubbing alcohol, it is drying now; I don't think anything is happening... HELP! I just rubbed it on quickly with some face makeup remover cotton things. Alittle dye came off. Not much. I'm thinking of just putting it in a super hot bath and scrub it in dawn soap with a toothbrush. Thoughts?? Is there something I am doing wrong? Do I need to scrub more? Am I not using the right materials? Please help! Pics down below!!

Another mystery: what is this thing? I think it had a strap sling thing at one time. There is a ring on the side, but only on one side? But the clutch thing is SO big!! It is like those old Penny eye lit bags, but only on one side! Plmk! Thank you! Happy Sunday!

Another..
Does it smell? I think those spots might be from mold.

Maybe it was for a wristlet strap?

No I don't think so! I guess I have not put my nose up to it, but from when I was working on it I could not smell anything! It is super dry though!! What should I do?

And yes it could be! Hmm a mystery! I wish someone new the style? Should I post it on the authenticate thread?

I'd try industrial grade acetone next. Wear gloves and use it in a well ventilated space. Apply with a terry cotton cloth and scrub firmly. Let it dry and repeat if necessary then wash with Dawn and rinse thoroughly. If that doesn't work, then last resort, ammonia. If it is mould as whateve suggests that might work and it would definitely kill it. If it's not mould then it should at least fade the spots.

Don't give up. You can definitely make this bag look better!

I agree with whateve that as the eyelet is only on one side, it was probably for a wrist strap. The same as a Basic Bag maybe.

Post it on the ID thread.
