Working on the bottom piping rips. Progress pic. I used Angelus leather filler, topped with brown & black edgekote mixture, topped with brown & black mixed leather dye.

PS: I didn't dunk this bag, because the leather is soft like butter and I didn't want to stiffen it up!

This looks awesome. I’m hoping to try something similar.

I think the hardness of your water contributes to a rehabbed bag becoming stiff. Someone who used to be active on this thread used to save her rainwater for dunking.

I also have hard water, so bought distilled water (idea from here) for the last rinse of my bags, but sadly it did not seem to make much of a difference. The bags are still somewhat (perhaps a tiny bit less) stiff after a dunk. Maybe using the bag will soften the leather.

Hello everyone,

I recently got a Coach Willis bag from ’95 in mahogany color. Unfortunately, the seller did something strange to it—they used a dye called "Chemicol," and now the bag looks a bit off. When you lift the flap, as you can see in the pictures, the top part has the original color, but the lower half was dyed, and the difference is pretty noticeable.

I really love this bag, and mahogany is my favorite color, so I’m super eager to restore it to its original color. Can you guys help me with this?

Thanks in advance!

You could try using acetone (nail polish remover) to remove the dye. Once it is removed, you'll have to dunk the bag to remove the chemicals and then condition the bag.
