Been a very long time since posting here. Hi!

Wanted to share a new addition that's white - a color I swore I wouldn't buy because it's very difficult to "rehab" and I did not want a bag I wouldn't carry. I mean, who has the courage to carry a white bag and I never really thought they were very pretty. If anyone is afraid of carrying white, don't be. I have carried this beauty on numerous occasions and I am shocked at how durable this color is! I'm very cautious of my bags so there's that too. Anyway, I must say that white in person is stunning, pictures do not do it justice! I used a magic eraser (very, very carefully!) on the tongue and other areas that had dirt marks. I then washed the bag in Leather Therapy Wash and all the dirt came right out.

Don't be afraid of white! Nubuck, on the hand, is something to be afraid of though! Love the results of you red nubuck bag @katev!

**EDIT**
Why is that picture so huge??!

No recoloring whatsoever!

So gorgeous!! And the alternate strap is amazing!

I too assumed you had recolored. Also impressive you were able to get those dirt marks off with Magic Eraser without desurfacing the leather. Beautiful!

That will be an easy rehab! You deserve it, I would never embark on some of the bags that you have and you do amazing rehabs that's for sure!
Thanks! I'm currently carrying around my red bag of this style, and it's working out great for me! So, I thought I'd add a black. :) I have a habit of late night shopping, and I also found this one yesterday. Looks like a 9655 small zippered pouch, and it has the slit corners. :p Another rehab!

Cute! Late night bag shoppers raise your hand! 🙌

Quick question for the Lexol fans — are these the right wipes? I also see “cleaning wipes” but I don’t see separate conditioning wipes to go with them (like the 2-step liquids).

Thanks!!

Just a quick PSA following up on this… I landed on the cleaner (step 1) wipes and conditioner (step 2) wipes from Lexol’s tack line (pics below). My experience is that equestrian products are great for many other leather goods (I’m certain this has been discussed here in the forum by others!). The Lexol wipes that more commonly popped up in searches are from their automotive branding and they look to have discontinued the 2-step wipes in favor of the new 3-in-1 product I showed above. The descriptions for the cleaners and conditioners are the same between lines but I didn’t see detailed ingredients listed so can’t say for sure whether the formulations are identical. In the course of looking at way too many Lexol product pages I also discovered that right now most include a manufacturer’s note that they are going through rolling packaging changes but formulas are unchanged.

Maybe something in this will be helpful to others!

It looks like they've changed their labeling, but I've used both Lexol Equestrian Cleaning and Conditioning Wipes and I like them! They are quick and easy for a light and fast touch-up.

There is an equestrian supply shop near me and I have found a lot of good leather care products there!

Hi y’all. Sorry, this is more a super basic question (not fully a rehab or rescue question). Do you have steps you always do when you get a secondhand bag (leather or fabric)? Thinking about standard cleaning and sanitizing especially when the bag doesn’t look visibly dirty. New to the vintage bag journey and got a couple bags off Poshmark that look pretty decent and don’t need “fixing” but was curious from a general cleanliness side. Thanks in advance!

Wiping down with white Vinager helps to prevent and treat mold. Keep them separate from other bags until you are sure.
I always give them a clean. Even if they look ok..you might be surprised.
Saddle soap the leather ones if they don't need a dunk.
Condition and stuff to shape.
Fabric ones turn inside out and brush out...wipe down. Condition any leather parts...stuff as well.
This is what I would do.
