Love it! My grandmother used to take me with her to shop at Bergner’s when I was a little girl. I was sad to see them liquidated in the 2010s. Not as sad as the Marshall Fields buyout but similar old historical store. I’m going to go with expired, connieinseattle. 😂 Your post is also weirdly timely, I was literally just searching up scuff marks on dark leathers. Can I ask, what’s your plan for those?
Well, it looks like they were covering up indentations with a darker color paint on top of the mahogany leather. So i'm going to dunk and try to unroll the indentations, and see how that affects the color. This might be a bag that I have to re-dye. Also, all four of the bottom corners are ripped. For scuff's in general, I think cpr does wonders.

So - this one's not terribly exciting but thought I'd share anyway. I had a 9966 in Mahogany years ago and stupidly got rid of it. Came across this navy (blavy? I swear she looks more blue IRL) one - it was in pretty good shape just lookin' dry, worn out, and was super musty smelling. Dunked her and polished her up and now she's good to go. Plus, she's got that squishy Costa Rica leather that I just love. (first pic is before, second is after)

White Bag restoration - ideas gratefully accepted

Hi all, this is my first post and my first Coach bag. I live in the South West of Western Australia and while I know the Coach Brand, it is not the classic iconic brand here like it is in the US. Vintage Coach is not something we come across in thrift shops etc

I bought it purposely because it was white leather as a project to see if I could improve it, not because its brand. That said, since ordering on eBay, I have found myself down the Coach rabbit hole and it has been a deep dive. I think/hope this is an authentic bag. The label is C043-9637.

Rookie mistake, I didn't take my own BEFORE photos. Inside the bag was one large ink stain and several more pen marks. I have dunked the bag and it was dirty. I managed to remove most of the ink staining from the interior, but I think the outside looks a worse now. It may have had surface touch ups previously and they have washed away. I would love to hear from anyone who has successfully restored a light bag or any hints of tips you think may be worth trying.

Thanks, Denise

I share the story of rehabbing a bone framed pouch. https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/coach-rehab-and-rescue-club.833400/post-35919506 What I ended up doing was mixing some white leather dye with Leather CPR, and smoothing that on. Let it dry. Then another layer. And another layer.

If they are stains rather than worn areas on the leather, zit cream (benzoyl peroxide) will bleach them out. It takes a while. I usually leave it on for a day, then clean it off with conditioner, then put it back on if it needs it. It won't work for scratches or wear. For that, you'll need paint.

So, I’ve been digging into my rehab piles to select a few bags as gifts for some friends, and here is one of my recent rehab projects.

It’s a 4929 Sonoma Small Full Flap (Natural Grain) bag that I bought at the Salvation Army Store. It was made in Italy in 1997 and the red color is called “Tomato”! Thank you to @Hyacinth for the authentication.

The bag was in pretty good condition but the hangtag had separated and it had an “FS” (final sale) stamp on the creed. I never knew why it had been marked as defective until I dunked it!

When I gave it a bath in Dawn the lining inside the rear slip pocket started to fray and I realized that it hadn’t been properly sewn or secured inside the pocket.

If I had realized it in advance I might have taken it to a shoe repair shop to have it fixed by a professional, but I forged ahead because I was already in mid-rehab and on a deadline!

So I dunked it, stuffed it, conditioned it, and glued the hangtag together and I used rubbing alcohol to remove the “FS” mark on the creed.

I also trimmed the frayed threads on the back pocket lining and used Fray-Check to stop it from fraying.

Then I used fabric adhesive to glue the lining to the inside of the back pocket and I secured it with clamps for a few hours. The glue worked well but clamps left slight indentations in the leather, but they disappeared when I massaged the area with Leather CPR.

There isn’t much hardware on the bag but I used Wenol to shine it up. I think it came out well and I gave it to my friend on Monday and she loved it!

Here are before and after pics of the FS stamp on the creed and of the frayed, defective pocket lining.

I would never have thought to remove the FS from the creed!
