Thank you! Sounds like I'm probably out of luck with a coral bag I found in a thrift store. It has blue ink pen right on the front.

There's another one at the same thrift store that I didn't buy because one side is covered in blue stains. I think I'm going to go back after dinner and get it though. I like the style of the bag, so if the stains don't come out, I can try painting just that one side.
If you can't use the coral bag the way it is, you might as well try to get it off as long as you know you might have to paint.

Has anyone tried cuticle remover for ink stains? There is a girl on TikTok who rehabs Coach bags who uses it with some success.

Do you know what kind of cuticle remover?
Just a word of caution. I recalled that video was discussed here before and I did a search on cuticle remover in this thread and several posts indicate mixed results. One member found it removed the ink but changed the texture of the bag. The other said it made the stain worse. Really worse. I recommend you do a search of the posts and check it out.

Wow, you learn something everyday. I've never even heard of these "bin" stores aka "outlet" stores for goodwill. The goodwills near me are just retail thrift stores, with every item individually priced and Coach bags run around $40-$80. And there IS an Outlet Store in Seattle. I'll have to plan a trip there to see what it's all about!
Bring gloves and hand sanitizer. If it’s anything like the one by me. And a face mask if you are sensitive to dust. My friend thrifts there regularly for her online store. She found a Madison key case wrapped in tissue in a small box or tin!

Bad luck swirling. My black NY City watermelon tote in EUC that I just bought on ebay is missing in the mail. It shows as "delivered" today, but no, it wasn't. Not to me. Maybe a neighbor who received it will be nice and bring it to me? I tried to file a missing mail request with the USPS but they won't accept it until the item has been lost for a week past shipping date.

WHat you need to do is either go to or call your local post office. Have them check the GPS coordinates that will tell them if it was misdelivered or if the seller pulled a fake tracking scam. (Fake tracking scams are cases in which the seller ships a widget to a location in the same zip code so delivery is "proven" and filing INR (item not received) will lose you the case since there's tracking showing delivery.)

They may not tell you exactly where it was delivered but can give a letterhead documentation stating that the shipping label and the delivery address don't match.

(IMO, this probably isn't a case of a fake tracking scam though. I think it's human error or the mailman scanning as delivered but didn't get it to you that day. You might wait another day or so to see if it's delivered to you.)

Does anyone think this lipstick case looks as though it's been painted? There was a comment that it was and the paint was removed with acetone, then conditioned. From the photos, I can't identify it as painted, but maybe color/shade wear or darkening/discoloration from handling. Because of the small size, wouldn't it be awkward to paint a lipstick case?
Thoughts?

If it was painted they did a good job of removing it. Why would they lie?

The photos are the before photos - with the alleged paint. No after removal photos were shown.
It seemed that the person who determined it was painted (and removed it with acetone) purchased it the way it is in the photos. I couldn't determine from the photos that it had been painted, so was just curious what others thought and what indicator of paint I was missing.

I can see why you are confused. It doesn't look painted. There are pale spots where the wear shows. Also, no brush marks.

I can't imagine an acetone bath did that case any good.

Thanks to both of you for weighing in. I didn't think it looked painted either, so maybe the buyer thought the uneven color, patina and body oils from handling the lipstick case was paint?? It seems the acetone would have really, really dried the leather since it's pretty thin on a lipstick case. Or just plain ruined it. Maybe a lifetime of regular conditioning will be needed to keep it from drying even more after the acetone use. Oh well, I was just curious what others thought. TY

Good afternoon All,

I am working on rehabbing a vintage Small Safari Bag and on both side pockets there is a prong missing from the back side of the female side of the turnlock set up. I broke another one off as I was removing it, on one side. My question to everyone is:
A - Would you clean and replace the original hardware?
B - Would you clean the good pieces and just replace the damaged piece?
C - Would you replace the whole turnlock?

Is there more or less value in any option?

TIA - for all info and opinions - I am planning to sell it after I finish the rehab.

Also, is there a way to regain the bags original shape(pull up a sagging side) without dunking the whole bag? TIA
