I would like to share a very special rehab today from a very special person

My good friend @Morgan_Bellini found & gifted me this courier because she knew I had wanted a regular sized one for a very long time. The original owner had the piping replaced by Coach & as a result, it looks like a beautiful spectator courier! Thank you x 1000 for being the reason I have both of my couriers MB, you are the absolute best! I can’t believe this bag is mine!:hbeat::hugs:

It’s just a little loose now- I’ve been trying to press it down each time I apply conditioner. The whole bag after I just brought it home is first photo, then with two layers of cpr is second photo! It was really in pretty good shape- very dry and some scuffs and scrapes. It’s funny there are lots of scrapes in one direction on the non pocket side- like they shoved it underneath something everyday.

What a difference a dunk makes, love what you were able to achieve.

My Goldie has arrived! When I find myself naming my bags even before the rehab, that means they're going to end up being for me. I bought this one for reselling. But I love it already.

I have wondered about that, selling after a rehab, where you pour your time (not to speak of heart and soul) into a bag. How do you decide which bag can/must go ? So far I have not done any serious rehabbing, but can't imagine letting any of my bags go after all the work :) My heap has ballooned to 13 bags, while my closet space has remained stationary, so somewhere along the line some of it must go, if I want to experience new styles, colors, etc. Of course, 13 is a terrible number, 14+ would be calming !!

Just love these bags... Welcoming #6 to the family. The patina is just glorious and with the white stitching, I can't stop staring.

The before is the sellers picture.

Hello, I know it's a long while since you posted this...do you mind sharing how you transformed this bag...I'm trying my best with a bag that looks in color similar to what yours looked like before...I have dunked twice; waiting on it to dry to decide exactly what to do with it due to it not coming back to life.

I purchased some Furniture Clinic Re-Coloring balm for another rehab but having issues with it not drying...It's been a week and when I take a white cloth to buff it, the color still runs...it's frustrating, lol.

Just was hoping you would share, the bag is simply gorgeous, thank you

@PCNovice Would you mind sharing pics please? It's really helpful to see the condition of the bag, what areas "need coming back to life" and most importantly, please hold off on the re coloring balm. I would love to offer as much help as possible and please know that there many amazing rehabbers on the site!

Would you also care to share what conditioning products you used? I improved several very worn bags. I used multiple apps of several conditioners.

I have the urge to dunk but I think you are right. I have a few other bags that need less work so maybe I’ll keep reading about everyone’s projects, gather information, do some small stuff, and tackle it after the new year. In two weeks I am heading to my daughter’s and son-in-law’s house to care for my first grandson until he goes to daycare in January. I want to have time when I start the “Willis” and the next couple weeks are for getting ready to leave and wrapping Christmas gifts, making and wrapping caramels and getting those gifts to my people. I’ve been trying to figure out storage for future bags! I looked through the wonderful catalogs last night that several of you so kindly posted and I have quite a list.

Here is the post with the link for the video -

Actually I do have a Burgundy small shoulder bag that I dyed and quite happy with the result.
It has NYC creed, bag was very faded especially around pipping. I applied 2 coats of Feibing’s burgundy dye on damp bag, with 24 hours in between. Then conditioned with lots of CPR for several days, as the dye dried out the bag . It was set aside for about 3 month to let the dye worked it’s way deep into leather fibres, it was then dunked again to get rid of excess dye, following with CPR And black rock. No sealer was applied. The bag color looks quite natural. The last blurry photo is before , I only have a screen shot of the expired listing .

Hi Luna, I am doing a bit of catch up here and am curious; the bag was burgundy to start with, correct? Thanks.

I have not turned the bag inside out as of yet although I will try this in the future. Not to sound dumb but is it difficult and damaging to the seams to turn it inside out? I've never tried.
side note, catching up here - I have turned several bags inside out. Generally the larger the bag and softer the leather, the easier it is. For example my enormous haha worn Sling Bag. Turning it inside out while dunking last year to give it a good scrub. I saw a young woman do it with a Court on a YT video  to vacuum out every nook and cranny. She just worked that puppy while keeping up a stream of dialogue. It must have been really smooshy leather. I have a Court I dunked and conditioned, but the leather is such that I would not attempt, even during a dunk. My Ranch is smooshy and I could do it if needed. My Stewie, not so much. I think it will vary bag to bag.
If the leather is soft and there are no stitching issues, I don't see it as a problem with the seams. The softness of the leather, imo would allow the manipulation. If I felt I was forcing a seam in some way, I would not proceed.

Chuckling at your comment on 14+ ... catching up here after mostly lurking for past few months; all is well, just busy with life. For me, after buying dozens of vintage Coach bags over the last few years, with a definite need to downsize, it is organically coming to me which bags I want to keep that I use and which bags I want to keep for collecting sake. And of course I have a rehab pile. I have at least a dozen bags that while I love how they look, for various reasons, they are not as user-friendly as anticipated and/or I don't reach for them, now that I work mostly from home. It has taken me 6 years to get to that point! Some styles are more desirable, some less. I am not on a selling platform, so now I am exploring how to sell them. May as well take advantage of the current market. I am curious to hear what others say.

Yes, I was looking at that post. I have some of those D-rings but the loops on the plaza bag look like they are too small to fit them .

I replaced the rings on a small black plaza with the screw on equestrian ones. The d rings on my bag were also damaged like yours. Here’s my old post if you wanna see it:

I saw that video too and decided to try it. I will confess one of my mistakes as a way to share a tip… don’t try to do any turning while the bag is in your bucket of water. By the time I finished flipping the bag I felt (and looked) like I wrestled a baby seal

in hindsight, it was obvious I should not do that. But it was satisfying to scrub out the seams with a toothbrush.
