I finally dunked what I thought was my black Three Frame Shoulder Tote from 1969 (thanks @whateve for the info) & it turned out to be a very dark blue! Im wondering if it might be the shade “royal blue” from a Cashin colour swatch I found on Google images…

The hardware faded into an antique nickel & I didn’t polish it because 1) I think the character suits the bag & 2) my Coach tooled tea rose bag charm matches perfectly with the imperfect nickel. The Mexican striped lining didn’t bleed in the dunk (thank you @katev for putting my mind at ease).

I LOVE this bag, I’ll never part with it! :girlsigh:

What a rare and beautiful bag!

Hi ladies, I looked briefly but couldn't find any discussion on color fade... of course there are 2600+ pages on this forum..... so, I gave up!

I bought this briefcase at Goodwill for $25. To look at it from the front and back, it doesn't look too bad - but when you lay it flat you can see the front flap and top have faded to a lighter shade than the rest of the bag.
Any ideas on how to improve this? Also there are some strange spots that I think are just water spots? TIA

That bag is amazing...I wish I could find one. My online quest just now revealed a few pics, but none currently for sale.

Have you dunked? I'm sure a bath and conditioning should help some.

Thanks! EBay. I sent an offer on it within minutes of it being listed. I didn’t think the seller would accept but she did .
I wonder what the history of that bag sale was. You'd think that somebody who kept a bag from 1969 would know its value, and why sell after all these years? Sometimes things like this come from estate sales

I’ve had these pictures saved from a Coach runway show for a long time. I didn’t know if these bags ever went on sale to the public because I couldn’t find any listings of them online. I never in a million years thought I would stumble onto the vintage version!

I got it from a seller who sells vintage items. Im guessing she found it at an estate/garage sale or flea market. The most likely scenario is that the original owner probably passed away & the family donated/sold the belongings they didn’t want. Regardless of how she ended up in my hands, I’ve fixed her up & plan to carry her for many, many years . Im very impressed with the construction, I thought it was going to have to be “handled with care” because it’s so old .

What a find! The bag style and tooled bag charm look as though they were made for each other. Enjoy....she's a beauty!

She really is a beauty !!! Looking at these bags, I'm curious how the pouches are handled. Is every pouch an individual container and does the stitching above the kisslock closure delineate the upper pouch ? It is ingenious construction for sure.

Your bag with the solid color leather is more appealing to me than those. Those are more "funky," and dated. (By funky I mean: offbeat, unconventional.) Too much going on. The patterns there are pulling attention away from the amazingness of THREE kisslocks. Yours is timeless. Elegant. And so beautiful.

Yep, each kiss lock is an individual pouch! They get shallower the lower you go. I don’t really plan on using the bottom two but the top one is convenient. The interior is one open pocket with a deep zipper pocket on the back wall that can hold my card cases/important stuff. I like that the main compartment is just open. I was asked to do some mod shots & what fits. Ill post those to the comp thread when I have the time :). It’s a lovely bag, I really wish they weren’t so rare so more people could find & enjoy them!
