I too am eager to take a crack at fixing a scratch! But as noted that bag’s a fake.

My only perplexing problem at this moment is one I created. A vintage crossbody that I’ve been working on for months now had a terrible ink stain on the lining. I thought I got it out but when I dunked it (A last ditch effort to get rid of the Cigarette smoke smell) I transferred the ink to the leather! It seeped right through! Now I’ve got a big ink spot on leather that I didn’t have to begin with.

Ink stains are notorious. You may have to dye the bag to cover the stain.

How do you give bags a bath?

What type of bag? The procedure may vary with different types of leather, or if the bag is lined, or for specific types of damage, like mold, ink spots, tears, scratches, stains, etc. Post some pictures of your bag and we will be better able to offer advice

Below are the basic steps I usually use for an unlined, glove-tanned leather vintage bag, except I don't think that Coach Customer Service is offering free replacements for hangtags and turnlocks any longer. Good luck!

Wanted to get some thoughts on this green Shelton I got from Goodwill. I was looking for the posts about a jade color and I could have sworn that @katev posted a pic of jade Chester, and I think someone else posted a pic of jade next to bottle green. I did a search and could not find a thing. I'm assuming that the green on the Shelton is just one of those bags where the dye is just lighter but it's still 'bottle green' or is it that mystery jade? I am aware that 'bottle green' is listed in the vintage catalogs for Sheltons.

The Willis is bottle green for comparison.

Hey everyone! First time, I want to keep my coach station bag going, but it has some holes... It may be unrepairable, but I thought I'd ask. Anyone have luck patching and painting for something like this?

Hello: I was wondering if you all could tell me what this white stuff is on my black Court. I bought it in reasonably good condition about 6 months ago and had it authenticated here. I think I initially used some Leather CPR on it and that was it. No dunking. I pulled it out a few days ago and noticed this white stuff. I'm inclined to just LPCR it again, but should I do something more drastic to it first? Like give it a bath. Thank you for any advice.

I could fix that. The easiest way is fabric puff paint. Fill in the holes and smooth it until it looks good (this step takes some practice). Then paint with a mixture of conditioner and craft paint because usually the puff paint is a bit too shiny. Before I did it, I would take the opportunity to give the bag a full rehab.

It could be spue. If you aim a hair dryer at it and it disappears, it is spue. It is excess fat coming to the surface. It doesn't need more conditioner. You might be able to fix it by heating and wiping, or you might have to use some leather cleaner along with some buffing. I had a bag that it kept coming back. I sold it rather than dealing with it.

What do you recommend for a full rehab? I have cleaned the bag and applied a leather moisturizer, but I would be happy to get it looking better if I can :)

Do you think it could be mold?

My only experience with spue was a camel willis that had white circles of the stuff and they did disappear with the hair dryer. I gave the bag a full rehab and so far the spue hasn't returned see the link below.

Thank you!! I have a burgundy court with this very issue. Love the bag but dang if that film was sending me into a annoyed fit. I will try this!

It doesn't look like mold to me. Mold on leather is usually spots.

I’ll try that. Thanks

Hope not! But it might come down to a bath if the white stuff doesn’t go away with the hair dryer.

Hello,
This is my first time posting here and I need some advice. I recently bought 2 small bags and they are out of shape. I dont know if I should give them a full bath to shape them back? The brown bag Style 4145 has a smooth leather base inside. It is quite hard and I wonder if there is a cardboard in between the 2 pieces of base?
The black bag has a striped lining. I am afraid the colour will run into the lining if I soak them. If I dont, how do I get it back into shape? The strap is misshapen and so is the bag.
Any help is much appreciated. Thank you
