Can anyone in the Uk recommend a leather cleaner and conditioner and also anything to look after the metal hardware parts of the bag? They just seem to have suede cleaner on the Uk site at the moment and they don’t know when they will be receiving more stock. I may be going to Manchester the last week of April and I think there may be a Coach store there?

The restored bags in this thread look great!
I'm based in the UK. I personally wouldn't use Coach products on my bags as they're silicone based which coats the leather and doesn't let it breathe. You can buy leather CPR and Renapur from Amazon. Brasso also and there are other other metal cleaners available on Amazon

I just finished my first rehab project. Here are the before and afters. Thanks to you all for your wonderful guidance! First three images are before and last two are after. I think it looks better!

I think my backpack needs to be dyed. Im wondering what products we have in the UK which will have the effect I want. But I've been using it regardless because it's a great bag. Any tips greatly appreciated

It doesn't look bad. Maybe it just needs a conditioner refresh.

It may eventually need recoloring but I usually try rehabbing first to see how it looks. I would give it a bath in Dawn, stuff it with towels to reshape while drying, condition with CPR, apply black rocks, and polish the hardware. Good luck!

Hit the jackpot of rehab-ables just now at GW for a bargain price. Their usual price person must've been out sick coz these were a bargain. Bottom 2 are Costa Rica made. I'm look forward to see if the corners get some color backing the Companion bag(?) after her dunk. Also the Scooter has a fade line I wonder if I can blend a lot with intense conditioning...View attachment 5372227View attachment 5372230

I'm loving all the great rehab before and after pics I just scrolled through from the last few days!View attachment 5372233
The GW's in my area have become junky. One cannot find a leather purse from any brand. You did well!

Finished the Kent but disappointed in my rehab...too lazy to do anything about it.
Pics later
I saw the pics over on AT and it looks nice. If you are open to a few suggestions …
If you have fully conditioned it, maybe just put it on a shelf for a few weeks, months and take then take it out and use it for a week. See how you feel then.
Perhaps if you feel lazy (been there), which can be read as unmotivated, a break from rehabbing maybe would help. While I feel there is a lot, a lot of encouragement here, the bar here is high, very high here of late.
Or go ahead and use it now for a solid week. Really get in touch with what is disappointing you about it. See what your gut says to you.
Maybe it needs one more coat of conditioner or more buffing or *fill in the blank*. Give yourself time to think about it.

My story: I picked up a worn BT Plaza Large a few years ago. It had a few stains that didn’t lift with dunking and in my eagerness to restore it from being pancake flat I probably did not let it adequately dry before sitting it upright and it slumps forward. And the turn lock needs to be removed/cleaned, which I didn’t do initially. I felt like the stain made it look dirty instead of my favorite, distressed to perfection. I was never completely happy with it. But I wasn’t willing to let it go. I can be stubborn about rehabbing  and for crying out loud it was a $65 Plaza! Who gives up on that, right??
I now want to let go of some of the bags I am not using. So I pulled it out recently, used it for a good 10 days straight. I like the size of the style with its flap and curves. The leather, piping is in good to very good shape. So now it is happily back in the rehab pile. I want to remove the hardware, go Cape Cod on it, give the stains some extra attention (read about using an enzyme cleaner) and see if I can pay more attention in the drying phase so sits flat the way my other Plaza does. And see if I am satisfied with it then!
I was also meh about my Ergo Shopper and pushed myself to finish it. I fell in love with the color of the leather, toffee , like a rich saddle, after being in natural light.
Thanks for riding along with me on my vintage Coach journey :hugs:

I don't know if this is "normal" trying to remove ink, but the bag looks so much worse now. It spread and seems to have appeared on more areas. There was also a big ink spot on the bottom corner that I didn't see while it was wet. Here's a newbie question. When the bag dries inside, does the ink dry, too? Will items in the bag in the future get ink marks on them? This will be my first experiment in dying a purse. I guess we shall see what we shall see... I'm looking at the strap to try to figure out original color. The sides are gray and the surface is light brown.
