My pleasure. I am happy to share any info I have on bags I can, through my collection and catalogs, to enable a purchase (informed!) and to avert disaster
Knowledge is power - and a successful rehab! Your offer and info and what others at tPF provide is an invaluable resource. Thank you!
In case you haven't checked, the "punked" bag you linked to me was still listed.
Beyond repair nubuc bags deserve a proper "burial" of some sort, somewhere. :crybaby:

Hi all!
Just wanted to share my latest Cassie repaint. It started out as stone blue (1st photo) but I'm not a big blue bag girl (acquired Madison in Azure during the sale which scratched that itch).
Anyhow...I used all Angelus products...deglazer, acrylic leather paint in Avocado & matte finisher. The Angelus products were really easy to use (as opposed to the Fieblings I had used in the past). The matte finisher didn't give me much of the matte finish I was wanting but overall I'm quite pleased. Olive is my favorite color so when I learned the Cassie had been discontinued, I knew this would be my next project!
Cassie camera bag in Taupe is my next project...going black which will go great with the silver hardware. Any tips on achieving a closer to matte finish appreciated.
Thanks for letting me share!

Great dye job! This is one of those rehabs I am not doing ever again because I don’t have dye skills lol

Hey guys! So I got a green court recently and I'm not too sure what to
make of these spots. There's a lot of them all over the bag so I suspect it might be mold :-s but not sure. Thoughts? Should I start a return case on eBay? On the description, it did say “has some wear and stains in the pictures”?

It's hard to tell. There aren't enough to see a dotty pattern like I would expect from mold. They don't look that bad to me. IMO, the seller described it correctly and it wouldn't be very nice to expect her to take a return unless she accepts returns for any reason.

Yeah I’d feel bad to return it just because it was disclosed as so. Maybe it’s just age spots or something  I’ll know more soon after I dunk it. Thanks for the reply:smile:

On another more positive note, I’m almost done with my blue Janice. As expected, the corners and piping on the top zip part didn’t come back fully after the dunk/CPR, so I retouched it with acrylic/CPR combo.

I did run into an issue with the nickel hardware after the dunk. I think the vinegar might have corroded the outside finish of the nickel and became splotchy so I had to polish it off with a green scour pad. Just future rehabs out there with nickel - probably best to not put vinegar in the bath.

You did a brilliant job with the colour refreshing and thanks so much for the heads-up regarding vinegar and nickel hardware! :flowers:

Perfect color matching! I'm terrible at that. I believe someone else had that same experience with vinegar on nickel hardware.

One last hot sunny day before rain for the next week or more so perfect for drying my 9988 outside today! It barely dried overnight in my room with the windows open and it's been outside for less than an hour and already mostly dry! I like how the sun clears any hint of damp smell that I can't always achieve with air drying in room temperature.

Thank you :girlsigh: It was a hard one to match and doing it at night added to the craziness of adding just the right amount of paint together (why do I do this to myself?! LOL) I am super happy with the results. Will post a final finished pic once it’s ready;)

Hi all!
I have a question about crackled leather and what can be done about it. I feel like this crackles became more prominent after the bathing and I remember reading somewhere here that for really damaged bag, there's a pre-treatment before the dunk to prevent issue like this? But now, I cannot seem to find that comment. Is it true that these leather crackles can be enhanced by the bathing?

I have a picture of good condition strap vs. the strap that is crackled. Is sanding down works to improve this and repaint afterwards?

Thanks for any suggestions!
