Both your rehabs are exquisite, @MrsGAM!

Coach offered vintage bags in white and/or bone depending on the year and style. Many of our TPFers have catalogue photos that can help you discern the available colours of a particular style in a specific year. :flowers: Unfortunately colours aren't always correctly identified by sellers and might also be misrepresented depending on the quality and lighting in the listing photos.

I personally prefer white and here is an example of a white 1995 Sling Bag I recently purchased! (The tassels and hangtag are from approximately 10 years after the sling bag and therefore in "chalk". They are slightly more cream in tone.)

Thank you LadaZuri. Your Sling Bag looks fantastic!

It could just be the quality of the photo. I've had trouble photographing bone colored bags. This is a bone city. View attachment 5138556
This is what it looked like when I took the picture inside my white bathtub.

Or the seller could be wrong and it really it a white bag.
The color in the two photos looks quite different. I guess it's because the background color could affect the color of bags shown in photos. Or like you said, the sellers might identify the color wrong. Thank you whateve!

Has anyone ever tried adding a water-based dye when dunking to refresh color? If so, how did it go?

I managed to get my hands on a Beekman Computer Briefcase (5299) - thank you for the the tip, @Lake Effect! - and it’s noticeably faded (maybe even bleached?) when in direct sunlight. It appears this isn’t just my bag this has happened to, but may be a fault with other Beekman Computer Briefcases as well.

Here is one for sale on EBay that also has some fading:

My bag:

When I first noticed this (only after I accepted the order, of course) I thought that the bag had maybe been coated in polish or paint, but the interior is in excellent shape and is definitely black. :confused1:

Beautiful rehabs! I don't know if I'm brave enough to put anything on the suede. I wonder if I should on my suede watermelon bag.
I tried it out on a newer Coach suede pouch before using it on the Berkeleys! I read about people rehabbing Uggs and using Emu oil to rehydrate them. It's pretty nerve wracking because it darkens the suede at first!

I have used Emu Oil on suede in the past, but only on dark colored suede items and it worked okay, see pics at the link below. I don't think that I've ever tried it on lighter-colored suede bags.

I've used RIT dye. If you use the powder, don't add the salt and the water doesn't have to be super hot continually like the instructions say. It just does a color refresh but is very drying so you'll need lots of conditioning. I don't know what is the optimal time for soaking. You have to be careful to make sure it goes on evenly. Alternately, you can use the paint on method. It soaks in so is more like a dye than a paint. It is subtle and more coats can be added to make it darker.

After a bath, 1 coat of CPR, 1 coat of Leather Honey, 1 coat of Emu Oil (on the suede), 1 coat of Obenauf’s Heavy Duty LP, and 2 coats of Blackrocks:

Oh, how gorgeous! Did you buy that Sonoma recently?? I just saw one on ebay for a great price and I debated for days over whether or not I wanted to buy it and at the last minute I decided to save my money for a Baxter so I let it go. I'm really regretting that now, you did a beautiful job rehabbing yours! I guess I'll put it back on my wish list.

Ha! If I have helped anyone learn about a Coach bag the did not know about before, I can check off - good deed for the day

Yes, I got it on eBay! Might have been the same one you saw:lol: I’ve been wanting this satchel in a more neutral color (I have it in Sea).

I've had several black bags that had fading on the piping like yours. They often will go back to looking normal after you dunk and condition. For the ones that needed some additional work after rehab, I used Kiwi black leather dye to spot dye those places. It worked great.
