I’m hanging my head in shame…I made it worse!

I can no longer bear to work on this bag (imminent new job means I have less time to spare), I even bought a leather “Happy” patch to cover up that awful front damage but have lost my mojo completely.

Proof that my learning journey continues…

It's not your fault, ink like that on a light-colored bag is just impossible. I've never dyed a bag so I cannot advise you about that but at this point, if it were me, I would take it to a cobbler and ask about having it professionally dyed a dark color. I'd figure that I was still saving a beautiful bag and making it useful again, and I wouldn't have to deal with it any more!

Good luck whatever you decide to do!

Definitely a possibility to dye it! I’d look into the more professional dyes so you can get a good, smooth color. Seems like all the dyes I’ve tried (Fiebing’s and Angelus) have had streaky results; those seem to be better for color refreshing rather than completely changing a color.
Thank you. Any UK accessible dying tips welcomed…

Thank you…I’ll do some further research and keep taking wise counsel xx

Thank you! I definitely underestimated how much attention I was going to need to invest in the color refresh with a spectator. The dunk probably made it worse, too - although it was clean, the once-white thread definitely picked up the tan of the bag!

I have a very well-loved navy/tabac spectator waiting in my rehab pile, and now I’m not sure when I’ll be mentally ready to tackle it :frown:
Tabac is even harder to fix! It is very hard to match, especially if the bag has a lot of wear. I tried to do one of those too. The trim had darkened a lot in some places and I couldn't decide whether to match the darker or lighter parts. In the end, I just touched up the really bad parts and let the rest just have its patina.

I'm so sorry! When there is so much ink, it is nearly impossible to make it go away. I hope you try to dye it. I hate giving up on bags, even if it takes me years to get the energy to keep working on them.
The only bag I've ever had success in removing that much ink was a navy blue bag. It's dark color saved it. I've once tried getting ink out of a BT bag, and it ruined it. It's not always possible, especially that much. I think dying it is probably the best option. Good luck! :)

Also finished my Currant Tribeca Shopper! This one also only needed a regular bath and conditioning.

Looks great! Both of them. :) For some reason, I love Tribecas. I have the shopper in Eggplant, and I have the flap bag (I think my fave bag ever) in: red, tan, gray, and olive. Haha! It's the only bag, besides the Basic, that I have in multiple colors.

I want to get the flap bag some day! Maybe in ink:biggrin: I need more purples in my collection!

That's the right name: ink. ;) I always think of it as aubergene, or eggplant, since the color looks just like one. I've never seen a flap bag in ink, and if I do, I'm sure the price will be sky high. It's not a super popular bag for the most part, so I've managed to get them all at reasonable prices. But I've recently seen a few shoppers in ink going for no less than $200 (I paid $40 for mine awhile ago), so I'm sure the flap bag would also be up there in that color. But maybe not... We can maybe get lucky!

I remember seeing one in Ink before, but I wasn’t looking at the Tribeca line at that point! I can’t remember what the selling price was, but I’m sure the price now would be at least twice as much. I managed to score the Currant Shopper at $30; it was listed as a burgundy tote, and I could tell it was probably Currant due to the nickel hardware.
