How addicted am I??

I’ve referred to myself as the worlds slowest rehabber, haha. The last few weeks I’ve been super involved finishing up somewhat more complicated rehabs (replacing stitching, color refreshes, leather repairs like torn piping and deep scratches, super dry leather, etc.) on larger/darker/heavier bags I’ve been chipping away at since the still-cool part of spring. And I’ve been looking longingly at a sweet little Court Spectator that’s preppy and summery, hoping I’d get to it before a little beach trip with the fam. But...I didn’t.

So I brought it with me to rehab on vacation!

It’s my first Costa Rica bag, and the leather is soft and soooo smooshy. Other than some light scuffing and color loss, it’s in beautiful shape, other than what looks like some scratching just under the turn lock. (If anyone has ideas/suggestions for improving that area, I’m all ears!) It was made in 2001, so true vintage this year. And I found my first “Inspected By” tag in the pocket while cleaning it up!

Cool! Thanks for the info. Whatever it is, it's for ME. Not selling this one. I LOVE it!!!!!!!! PS: The reason I thought that was when I researched the serial number, a lot of people were selling and describing this same serial number bag as Willis.
I would not rely on online sellers for, well, anything! Other than a bag purchase! You have no idea how many of them just take the shotgun approach and use multiple style names/numbers and maybe, maybe one of them is correct. Or they do what you do and research other sellers. Who have posted incorrect information. If you want to know the actual name and style number, consider using the search feature here and target the AT or ID threads especially, instead of online listings. Or just ask when you have it authenticated, or ask on the ID thread or on the vintage thread.
Once you have spent time here on the Coach forum, you will find it to be an excellent source of accurate information.

@whateve remember that mouldy Dinky the seller called 'Pattison'? The seller told me it was a mistake but never changed it!:nuts::hrmm:

Advice? Help? Creative Ideas? Here's what happened. I bought a "lot" of Coach bags on an online auction site. And it was a LOT. :) 15 pieces. Anyway, most were in good shape. This one has multiple rips/holes in the canvas right at the top of the bag. Other than that, it looks really good. I don't think I could rehab this bag enough to sell it, however, I like it for me. Ideas on how to repair or hide these holes? I was thinking about glue-ing a strip of leather or ribbon as a trim at the top. However, I read on this forum somewhere that it is sacrilege to alter a Coach bag. In this case, I just want to use it for me and not have it look so bad. Ideas? Thanks for sharing your hive mind and expertise and creativity. x o Coach rips2.jpgcoach rips.jpg

I would give it a sink bath in Dawn dish suds. If it still looks dingy you could put it in a pillow case and cycle it through the washer. Stuff it with towels to shape it while drying. Trim the frayed edges. Use fabric glue to stabilize the frayed areas. Consider touching them up with a matching acrylic hobby paint. Condition the leather trim and buff the hardware. Try to replace the missing hangtag.

Personally, I wouldn't try to add a trim; I would be afraid to ruin the look of the bag. I would probably buy some cute patches and glue them on to hide the holes, but that might be hard since the holes are on the edge. But first, I would try what @katev suggested to see if that improves the look. I don't mind customizing or altering bags, and there are some very talented ladies on here that have done amazing alterations, but I usually only do that as a last resort.

Ooo let's see a lot photograph?

Thank you for the advice!! So, I gather you are saying "ix-nay" on adding a trim. My photos here were hurried and incomplete. The bag does have the hang tag. Silver leather.

I'm not saying that adding the trim is a bag idea, it probably wouldn't hurt the value of this poor, abused bag IMO, but I think it would be difficult to do and it might not look great. Anyway, it's beyond my skills but if you think you can pull it off then go for it and please let us know how it works out. Good luck!

Could I ask a weird favour from anyone with some CPR? Its been a month since I last rehabbed & I had all my CPR stored in a spare room. It’s been super hot where I live & I didn’t realize that the AC wasn’t circulating well to that room. Can anyone smell their CPR & let me know if theres a very faint chemical smell? I know it’s supposed to be odourless but I can’t seem to remember if it’s always had a faint hint of a smell or not. Basically, I wanna make sure my CPR didn’t go bad lol, TYIA :)
