Okay, end results are in! Lol. One thing I didn't think about though was that I conducted my experiment on black bags (and 1 gray) which would not account for any darkening of the leather the various products might produce... I think I will have to do this again! I'm such a dork.

Anyway, here are the bags, sans hardware still and with one coat of each product. I think I'll do a second coat on them since they were all super dry. Y'all, I gotta say, I like them all! I used the same method with each, warming the oils by rubbing my palms together until quite warm and rubbing into the bag also until heat was generated. I used a drier afterward very carefully because I'd never done it before. I'm not sure I even got close enough to have an effect. I was a bit nervous.

In application I prefer the spreadability of Renapur and Obenauf's, but I feel like all the bags came out pretty shiny. The BR might be the best in terms of shine though. Here are pics of each bag with the products used.

Very scientific, they look great!

Well, taking the Black Willis to the Cobbler was the right decision, I picked it up yesterday and it looks great! I haven't rehabbed it yet but I am sure that it will turn out well.

He said that the thread was dry-rotted and that's the reason it gave way at both corners (the pressure points). He restictched the entire top of the bag below the dowel rod.

It wasn't cheap ($18) which is the same amount that I paid for the bag, but it looks much better. I could never have repaired it myself. Here are some pictures after the stitching was professionally repaired.

This looks great and it was so worth it! I wish I had a good cobbler.

They all look fantastic!

Hello! There is this fade on the front of my bag that I cant seem to take out. Its not really apparent but when the light hits it the wrong way, it’s there! Attached are the pics. Is there something I can do about it? Any help is welcome!

Have you considered doing a colour refresh? There was a bit of discussion about colour refreshing in the last couple of days if you want to check back through the posts here.

I just held it near the bags so a bit of heat reached them. When they felt warmish I rubbed the product in a little more, each side at a time. Mind you, I'm totally experimenting. I believe there are a couple people on here who have this heat method down.

I did the same thing as you when I worked on an extremely dry Plaza last year. I slathered it in Renapur & hit it with a hairdryer for 10 mins before letting it sit & wiping off the excess. The results were really good from what I can remember but I never kept the bag so I have no idea if some of the dryness ever came back. I did make sure to tell the buyer to condition it periodically in the note I wrote so hopefully it’s still ok, wherever it is…lol

Rehabbing in the cold gloomy UK, I've found that slathering my bags on a hot sunny day is absolutely amazing. The entire bag is heated up and the conditioners immediately melt and sink into the leather. OTOH when I'm in my room the conditioner always ends up regurgitating or congealing on the surface, even when I use a hairdryer as it doesn't keep the entire bag heated up.

I realised yesterday how much conditioner I've wasted washing it out thinking I'd oversaturated the bag when the bag just wasn't warmed up enough to take it in - even when wet, if the bag is cold, it just doesn't sink in properly. I'm such a dummy!

I figured out how to clean the white stripes on this bag...they had ink, dirt, and more. Leather cleaner did nothing. Guess what worked? A "Magic Eraser." I read all this debate on the internet, don't use it on leather, do use it on leather, I decided to go for it. Super happy with the results.View attachment 5094817

I found this on UK eBay with the same kinds of marks and stains!!! So weird haha https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184853675246?hash=item2b0a233cee:g:DZEAAOSwKk1gq-7t

The weather where I live in the Pacific NW is similar. It rains for 2/3 of the year. Funny though, I stayed in London for 4 months as an undergrad. It was spring time, and the weather was so nice I had to buy new clothes; I had mostly only brought stuff for rain. Of course, that was probably an exception to the rule, and it depends on where you live there too. I've been all over Scottish Highlands and to the Hebrides in the middle of the summer. It was often cool and wet.

Anyway, great idea putting them out in the sun! For the second coat, which I'm doing now, I think I'll pop them in the sun afterward. :) Thanks!

Finished my Ergo Zip!!! I love it so much! One of the corners was a nightmare as it didn't naturally reshape and I had to really force it out and push the stuffing into it. It still looks different to the others, which are naturally curving out but overall it's reshaped now and ready to use. ETA: it's a little shinier now after buffing with a horsehair brush compared to the photographs lol.

Hi Everyone,

Before/After pictures of today’s finished rehab...a 1992 Jackson Bucket bag in forest green. Part of the Camden Classics range, she is the first Jackson Bucket I’ve found to date.

She is in gorgeous condition...just needed a light dunk, CPR and Blackrock top coat. Her hardware was given a quick once-over with fine wire wool.

Hard to capture her beautiful rich green colour...but she’s scrumptious!

Take care

Zoe xx

Ooh this looks perfect. And...of course the threads dry rot over time! I’m not sure why that never occurred to me, it seems so obvious. I assume Coach used all (or mostly?) cotton thread...though if anyone knows for sure, I’m interested to learn!

Nice! I see you also made good use of a sunny bank holiday:D

May I ask where you order your CPR and BR?
