Nice! What are those huge gashes?!
She must have been put through a lot when she was used by a United Airlines stewardess! She’s got a scratch on the front flap, too. I forgot I used a needle to put two coats of leather glue in all those scratches. They look deeper than they really are, but I wanted to make sure the scratches wouldn’t deepen with use

Okay, all, it's experiment time! I've finally got myself some renapur, and I already have BR and Obenauf's LP. I'm going to wash all these bags at the same time and follow the exact same rehab process for each until the last step, at which point I'll try the 3 different products above, all applied in the same way: by hand with gentle heat applied after. We'll see! :D

Btw, the Tribeca flap is actually gray, not washed out black while the other bags are black. The comparison I'm looking for is shine and richness in the final product as well as ease of application/spreadability. Should be fun!
Well, I'm getting these started later then I'd planned. I had a big test to take for grad school, focused on that for some time. Anyway, here they go! But I have a question. On the bag with the top bar thingy (I can't remember the name right now--my brain...), do y'all take that out before you dunk it? It seems like the wise choice to me, but I can't get it out of there. I got the hardware off (and it was quite gross), but that thing (is it wood?) is in there very snugly. Any advice?

Go ahead and dunk. You don't need to remove the wooden dowel, re-inserting it is very difficult!

Have fun and can hardly wait to read about your experiences and results!

Nice move.

Speaking of leather glue, I had a little heartbreak: turns out none of the leather glues or superglues in my home work! They're all dried out or just not adhesive anymore. And I ruined my BT hangtag because it hardened the two pieces but didn't actually stick them together. Not sure what to do with it now other than to chuck them away, lol.

Thank you! I've got 2 of the 4 dunked and just starting to dry. I'll go ahead and dunk these 2 as well. I'm excited too. It's kinda fun doing these experiments. Lol

So cool! Can I ask, how did you remove your D-rings? I see there is a line in one side for a small Phillips head screwdriver, but mine are either super tight or I'm doing something wrong. Is it like a safety top where I need to push first or is it just a workout?
(Basically, is the D-ring is either smarter than me or am I a weakling? Not sure which will bum me out more. :P)

Oh, it was a workout. Just regular screws though. I had to kinda wrap my fingers around the base because the screwdriver kept slipping out before I could get it at all loose. I almost scratched the leather a couple times. Even after I got it to turn, I still had to work at it. They're super tight! Those little husky mini screwdrivers helped.

Also, one was in there so tight I really had to torque it, and I kinda chipped the top of the brass screw a little bit. I'll have to sand it back down. So, good luck! You can do it!

Oh dear... I think this Murphy might be navy blue now that it's clean, which is cool. But I think I can't sell it. Look at that cut! I don't know how I didn't see it before. It's a very clean cut, so maybe it was glued well, which I will attempt myself, but regardless, that's some bad damage. Dang it!
