Hi all, just wanted to pick your brains.... I found a lovely NYC Rambler, BT. The front of the bag has really nice patina but the back has grease(?) stains all over it. I walked away but it’s haunting me. The seller is going to send me a picture tomorrow and I’ll post it. It’s not super cheap, but not crazy expensive either. What has been your experience with grease on British Tan?

You could try rubbing talcum powder to soak the grease up or use a degreasing product but in my experience, oily stains on british tan don’t fully go away. On the plus side, it’s on the back where it won’t be seen by anyone but I understand if they’ll still be bothersome because you’ll know they’re there.

Wow a purple one! It's good to know that you dunked it without problems. The Bridget is heavy for a small bag but I love it. My black Bridget is one of my favorite bags.
I can carry a heavy bag, you don't have to explain to me.
This was the one I got. Not sure about leather type, don’t remember if it bleed color during dunk.

Omg, I just got a few catalogs, 2007 2008. Let me look and see. That is a cute style.

Nice to see you
Not the same thing, but I dunked an amethyst Garcia with a pale lilac lining and no bleeding. I had a little bleed of a teal suede Haversack onto the anniversary lining, but I soaked it for a short while before putting it through a washed when really I should have given in just a quick spot treatment before going in the wash.

Good advice, I think that I will start with just a quick wash in the sink!

I know that this is the wrong forum but do any of you have experience rehabbing Rebecca Minkoff items? At the link below is a RM "crossbody wallet on a chain" that I picked up at the thrift store. I'm going to clean it up and give it to a friend that I think will like it. It's in pretty good shape but I've never rehabbed any Minkoff items and I haven't been able to find any info about RM rehabbing.

If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them, thanks!

I have bought a few RM items but never dunked any. I wouldn't dunk it since wallets don't do that well with dunking. I think just cleaning and conditioning would be fine. I would test out the conditioner in a hidden part first. I've had conditioner end up making a bag look streaky.

Oh I know a woman from the bargain bag thread the general bags forum that does a lot of thrift RM, I am trying to thing of her name to tag her in . . .

@Shelby33 I believe I recall you thrifted a bit of RM. Any cleaning advice for katev and her RM wallet?

Grease is tough. Period. If it's on the back, I say why not. Somebody here put too much of an oil like conditioner on a yellow City bag and she got a really decent result with removing it with a product called something like Leathermaster Degreaser. It cost about $30.
Oh course I just finished rehabbing a really rough looking Saddle Rambler. The up side is it doesn't haunt me!!
Leathermaster Degreaser, made in Winnipeg! At least Canadians will always be able to get it!

Yes, I've had mixed luck with dunking wallets so surface cleaning is probably the best way to start. Thanks for the reminder to test products first in an obscure spot!

The Bridget is a cute bag and more roomy than you would expect. Take a look at these photos from 2008 of @baglady39's famous Bridget and Legacy collection!

Wow, that's commitment, not to say quite a handbag budget! In one of the new catalogs I just picked up from 2008, they do not feature your Bridget but do have it's very big sister, the Lily Satchel, in signature canvas. I came across a Lily in Denim sig at a thrift shop, beyond the point of any reasonable return. It weighed a TON.
I have to go and peruse and/or revive any Legacy or Tattersall threads. I have been developing feelings I can't deny  I feel like I am cheating on Coach circa 1995

eta, I have to go check look around if anyone had done "What's in your Bag" with this one.

For a size comparison, here's a picture of my black Bridget (11622) next to my exotic snakeskin Parker (13417). The Parker weighs 1.5 pounds empty and the Bridget is just under 2.0 lbs.

@peacocky posted some pics of her black bridget at the link below, including an interior shot stuffed, but keep in mind that there is a second zipper compartment and that the bag is flexible; I find that it holds quite a lot for a small bag.
