I couldn’t keep track of where I read stuff. LOL! Somebody suggested that a thread for bag review and how much it holds (no chat) should be started. Anybody started that yet? If not, I’m waiting on someone who will. Specially interested on how much a Derby can fit.

I started that thread today! Heres the link for anyone on this rehab thread who doesn’t frequent the vintage coach chat thread where I posted it earlier :) :

she should be good...are you doing a dunk as well?
The ring is still coming off with more applications of CPR. I’m working it out with a soft bristled toothbrush. Once I see that it’s not budging anymore with this method, I’ll dunk it. It seems as though the wax was absorbed and an oily/waxy residue drifted to the outskirts of the ring. It’s much harder to remove than the heavy wax stain but it’s coming!

I received and dunked a green duffle last night! This was a bucket list color for me (pun intended)! But, it arrived with some surprise dark spots that didn't budge in the dunk. It's still drying but you can see them clearly. Any advice? Is this like BT where the spots don't budge and I have to leave it and love it, or have you had luck lightening them some other way?

And here she is post dunk! It’s so rewarding to dunk something that isn’t much of an emotional investment and have it come out so well. I didn’t expect it to be this nice!
Haha. You all are awesome. So much love going around ;)

So the hippie flap arrived today and I’m fairly certain it was a wax spill. I smeared a handful of CPR on the flap and at first, it couldn’t absorb into the leather. Then... the wax just melted away! Here’s a series of action photos for your enjoyment.

The last photo was really meant to be number 2... if chronological order matters in action shots.

and here are some quotes so you can also see the before. I just dove right in and didn’t take pre-CPR pics!

Any thoughts on what it is? Looks more like drips of grease/oil rather than ink or something that bled out from the inside. Dunk it!! :D

or coffee?

Yeah, I think you're right, judging by the splatter. I dunked and it didn't help but your post was super helpful - I've been working on it with some coach leather cleaner and a soft toothbrush, following by leather CPR with a toothbrush. Thanks so much for posting that. Fingers crossed! I don't need it to be perfect, just lighter, otherwise there is a part of me that won't want to carry it

It’s getting better. Still noticeable but I’m going to give it a rest and some conditioning and try again in a few days. Thanks for the tip - I almost gave up too soon!

Sooo bag ban. Yeah, I think I need one of those. I’ll see if there’s one for purchase online...
Send me the link, haha.

Nice! I ended up having several bags that were simply "experiments" or, "oh, didn't see this in the pics" come out amazingly.

I have seen some people here work miracles practically, by just applying more conditioner that I normally would. Great!

Was the leather kind of crunchy hard feeling? It looks like the mark in my red lunch box that went cranberry after washing.

The leather was really soft and floppy on the whole bag. The back was really smooth and soft and it has/d a nice patina all over. Excellent purchase. I’m wondering how much if the patina will remain after so much brushing and washing. Time will tell..

what was your mark from?

I don’t know, I thought maybe wax after seeing your pic, but mine felt very stiff

I would expect wax to be stiff though. I think the spill on my bag was a long time ago and had been worked a bit already. The surface wax had been scraped at with a sharp object (awesome plan, I might add) and most of the surface wax had been lifted already. What remained was that which had absorbed into the leather. It didn’t feel very waxy By touch but certainly acted like wax.

I had thought about trying to lift it with heat, the way I remove it from clothes. Place a clean terrycloth towel over it and iron it gently on low heat. It wasn’t necessary because the CPR took it all off and I’m thankful I didn’t try heat first.
