Thanks for your honest input. I will leave it as is for now, to see if it will grow on me. Surface dye is a bit of work and I don't want to screw up the color.

Thank you. The color verivation give it a fuzzy looking, do seems like suede (at least nubuck) from a little distance.
To be honest I would carry it just like it is. The color is lovely in my opinion and the turnlock absolutely pops. Just the perfect purple. I also think it looked suede, and I like it like that. I'd find a darling fob and carry it as is.
Thank you for the complement. Now you mentioned the turn lock, I take another look at the bag and the brass does look nice from the purple background. Mother's metal polish did a good job on the brass hardwares.

If anyone would like to try rehabbing an Italian Coach Madison bag see the link below. I believe that it is a genuine beechnut Pierre bag from around 1994 (?) but it hasn't been authenticated. Pierre bags have 2 main zipper compartments, an outside slip pocket, and an interior zip pocket.
The bag is listed for $19 (plus shipping) or make an offer. It appears to be in pretty good shape except that there's a bad tear in the cloth of the inside zipper pocket.
