Thank you! I am really surprised how fast it dried. The leather feels thinner on this bag than any of my other vintage bags. And the temp was in the 60's last night with no humidity and I had a small fan blowing on the bag. I'm sure that helped but I also had the same fan blowing on the other three I just rehabbed and they took several days to completely dry. I'm not complaining though, I'm very glad I decided to dunk and I'm very excited to carry it to work.
It's weird how that happens. My stewardess bag dried really fast like that. Other bags can take days sometimes.

Hi there. I am new to rehabbing. I like a lot of people here, heart the vintage coach purses. I purchased A 4157 eagerly tote in periwinkle. I didn’t see that so much color was missing from the bag near the top and edges in the pics .
Is there any hope of Hope of color matching?
I was thinking acrylic maybe the closest color match?
I’d welcome any suggestions you have!
Thanks.

Hi everyone, so I recently found a small plaza bag in black. I conditioned it and used brasso to clean the turnlocks but accidentally got some on the leather and it left a white stain on the bag that I can't seem to remove, any suggestions? When it got on the leather I immediately wiped it off but it didnt help. I have CPR conditioner on the way but not sure if something else can remove it?

Ive had the white stains after using brasso as well. I think it happens because the brasso dries the leather out. Give it a dunk, use your cpr and then condition the bag and it should be gone :)

These light colored purses, especially those from the Soho or Lightweights line, faded terribly. Washing and conditioning might help soon. You'll have to use trial and error to color match. It's best if you can take it to the store with you to the acrylic craft paint aisle. You might have to mix paints. Most acrylic craft paints have less sheen than Coach leather. It's best if you only use the paint thinly, possibly mixed with conditioner, to avoid having it look painted. You can add a little gloss medium to the paint too.

It can be very hard to tell the difference between Tabac and Mocha! The lighting makes a huge difference.

Oh! That looks much closer to my bag than the mocha! I had seen some pics of catalog colors from 1981 (I think posted by Hyacinth?) And the Tabac looked much more like a saddle or british tan color. I did see catalog images of the 9530, and it was available in both mocha and tabac. So maybe that is where that red comes in.

Thank you so much for the information! I appreciate it.

This Rambler has been a very interesting rehab. I dunked it around 4:00 yesterday afternoon and it's now just after 6:00am and the bag is almost completely dry. I have already put 3 coats of CPR on it because it was drying so fast and the CPR was soaking in as quickly as I could rub it in. I got my wish, I did ask for a quick dry but wow, this was something else! My Plaza, Ranch, and Court took days to dry. It looks like two light spots and a few scratches turned up on the flap after the dunk but I am totally ok with it. I will be able to carry this bag to work on Monday and I am SO EXCITED!! Pics are before and after the dunk...

You're doing this girl proud. And you have made me think about a Rambler! Never really thought about one after I found a Bancroft in BT. But since I am work from home for the foreseeable future, I can wait. First the first time in my adult life I am officially a small bag girl.

I love me some BT!! The Rambler is a nice sized bag, I really like it. I'm still reporting to work every day and I carry some masks, hand sanitizer and my tablet every day, so I appreciate the extra space. I wish I could be a small bag girl because those little bags tend to be so cute and in really good shape. The Bancroft is a lovely bag too, especially in BT!

The Bancroft is my gift from the Bag Gods. It all but fell in my lap. And for cheap. It will do until I can pry open my wallet for a Pony. Or a Rust bag in decent shape.

One email and all my ”plans” now have question marks. It sounded like I might go back to work on the 15th, then no one knew, then maybe around July 1...with that in mind, I have 2 bags (one is still in transit) to rehab while home and a ring that went on sale on its and it will likely need a signature...now HR sends an email - on a Sunday night - that we are transitioning back to work, our principals decide what days we need to go in. So I could have to go in this week with no warning and nothing prepared to go back. Would it have killed them to give us some warning?

Hi ladies I'm considering purchasing this bag, but the handle is in a rather bad way as the leather has peeled off in at least 2 spots. Any suggestions on whether this is worth a shot in salvaging? Thank you.

It depends on how cheap it is. The top of the handle looks horrible. Do you have ability to resew it? I think the part at the base of the handle could just be folded up. The underside of the other handle looks bad too. I think I've had one where the leather wasn't caught in the stitching, which is what the underside of the other handle looks like. It would be a difficult repair. Ideally you would have to remove some of the stitching and restitch it, which is difficult to do, especially if you are trying to do it by hand.

I think approx 40 dollars. She apparently paid hundreds for it only to realise it's quite hard to rehab. So I'm trying to figure out if it's sth I can handle (pun not intended lol). Would it be something I could ask a cobbler to do? My last sewing endeavours were in Home Econs classes and I believe the only A I received was probably for effort.

ETA: received more pics of the damage:

are you a school teacher? Or am I just dense for associating principals with school? Lol. Anyways, I really feel for you. Theres nothing worse than last minute notice. Good luck going back to work. I hope the transition is not too bad for you! :)
