Hi all, could I have some advice please? I’ve just purchased a 1996 Coach Willis which looks to be in good condition (it hasn’t arrived yet) but I’m tempted to try dunking to make sure it’s clean and then reshape etc. I’m in the UK so can’t get some of the items that you all use such as Blackrock. I have Apple cleaner and conditioner and I can get Leather CPR and Renapur. Would you recommend me purchasing those two as well?

I’ve loved seeing all your restorations and am excited to have a go, I’ve wanted to own a vintage Coach bag for ages so thanks for the inspiration.

Hello and welcome! Apple cleaner is ok and I have used it before in a dunk. Apple conditioner on the other hand isn't really thick enough, so leather cpr is better while the bag is still damp. Apple is good for just anytime conditioning. I like Renapur over Blackrocks as a finishing conditioner, but either does the same thing.

Thank you, I will get these ordered from Amazon and I’ll post some pics when the bag arrives.

With one rehab in its final days (yellow Regina), one starting (UA stewardess) and one waiting (currant Willis)...I buy a burgundy NYC “Pocket Purse”. I know they were called something else but at 10 a.m. it is not coming to me. Has its strap and hang tag and was $46 taxed and shipped. Anyone else really missing the old tax free internet days?

My acknowledged want list is now: aqua/mint Regina, post pouch (only a bargain one), purple station (or Willis), pool blue Willis, something jade and a daypack in a vibrant color (only a bargain one).

Welcome to Coach R&R, glad to see this group become more & more globalized..
There is also " Authenticate this Coach" group, in case you haven't done it yet, highly recommend to have your online purchase (except coach official website) authenciated prior to any rehab. The link is as follows.

Thank you for replying, I had the bag authenticated by BeenBurned before I purchased as I don’t know enough about vintage Coach. We rarely see vintage Coach bags for sale in the UK and I’m wary of fakes.

Well she is almost finished...just a bit of drying to do inside and I have to fix the male part of the turnlock a bit.
But the colour guys...still dont know.
Pictured with my current Ramblers Legacy, my Mahogany willis , my red city to show her shading.
The stain didnt come out but has been lessened. She either was sitting in something or something spilt inside her.

The stain doesn't look too bad. I think it is either burgundy or bordeaux. We don't know when it was made exactly. I imagine burgundy varied from year to year just as mahogany and british tan did.

there is a lessening of it I suppose.

I think it turned out really nice and to be such a lovely color! The stain is not bad... I used to fuss over these imperfections too until someone mentioned to me once to just call these things “patina” haha, plus it’s on the back!

Looks great! I love the color. I’m leaning towards Bordeaux as well. My 2 burgundy bags turned out darker with more purple undertones after they were rehabbed.

You did such a good job in the rehab. It is gorgeous color no matter what its official title is.

That is really beautiful. I had no idea the Court came in burgundy or bordeaux! I've never seen one before. Lovely job on the rehab, too!
