Mine is mostly 3b curls. I stopped straightening mine when my daughter sent me a pic of my little hair twin granddaughter with her hair straightened and I just couldn't take it. LOL So I decided I wanted to teach her to love her curls and I've never looked back. My husband hated when I straightened it so he is very encouraging with the curls and with me growing out my greys. I definitely don't let myself be a slave to the method though it did help me learn how to properly care for my curls and not look like a mop lol
Aww that's great! It is so very important for each one of us to learn that, and to teach it to a child is amazing - so they can benefit from positive self image so much more of their life than the average adult was when they learned it. 3b was my dream curl. I was trying everything I could to get my wavier sections to match my curlier ones but it wasn't in the cards!

Oh my gosh my first Regina arrived! It was on ebay and the seller said it was navy but I wasn't really sure. Thought it might have been black which would have been ok too. It's navy and in great shape. Can't wait to get to rehabbing. This is a perfect size bag and so cute! I might be hooked and need more of these so now I understand why you ladies love them.

What do you think of the price at $49? It had a bid price of $38 to start but I hate bidding and waiting. I would rather spend the extra $11 and have it sent. I tried to research it but there aren't many sold listings and none for navy.

I love me a regina! I think $49 is reasonable for one in good shape, but it seems they are really going up in price, espically for an odd color. I dont see to many in navy. Lots of brown and black and an occasional bone. I think they are the perfect small bag.

Long time no rehab haha I have many pages to go back and peruse. I just shared this in another thread. A few months back I scored an XL Ergo tote for only $20! The exterior was in decent shape, just dried out a bit wrinkly and a few scuffs. The interior was filthy! I couldn’t get the pen marks out of the lining but whatever, you can’t see them that much when my items are in the bag. I actually put this baby in my washing machine instead of dunking! I knew it was a risk but I have a newer one without an agitator. I just selected gentle cycle no spin. She just softly spun and spun until the lining was clean! I would never have been able to use it without cleaning the lining. Just some conditioning and black rocks and she’s perfect :)

Below are the After pics of my $35 Camel and Nickel Willis 9927 that was made in Costa Rica in 1999 and originally sold for $268. When I bought the bag online I wasn't sure if it was British Tan or Camel or if the hardware was brass or nickel, but it is camel and nickel - thank you to @Catbird9 for posting the catalog page below from Fall 1999 describing the Camel and Nickel combination and showing the bag in Currant and Nickel.

Warning! I am going to sound the first negative note in the chorus of praise for Renapur conditioner in regards to this rehab! Don't get me wrong, I think Renapur is a fine product, I used it on the recent rehab of a blue Kira bag and I liked it a lot. I am glad to have it in my rehabbing cabinet but I don't think it was the best choice for this light-colored, vintage camel bag.

Here is my rehab process. First I used a hair dryer to make the spue circles disappear and I replaced the hangtag. I used a small, flat-head screwdriver to remove the short handle and I repaired the stitching with needle and thread before replacing the handle. Then I gave the bag a sink bath in Dawn suds and thoroughly scrubbed it inside and out, then I drained and stuffed it and shaped it to dry. I started applying Leather CPR after it began drying.

After it was conditioned and dried I applied Renapur and I loved the way it restored the color of the bag and the condition of the piping BUT it seemed to make the flaws more obvious instead of helping to blend them in a bit. I let it dry and cure for 3 days and I buffed the bag well but I still didn't like the way it looked after the Renapur application. Finally I took it back to the bath to start all over. I again used Leather CPR but I used Blackrocks to finish the surface after the second bath. I am still not totally pleased with the results but I am generally happier with the way it looks after the Blackrocks conditioning and buffing.

I used acrylic paint to touch up the edging and I tried using acrylic to mask the flaws but it didn't help much so I gave up. The nickel hardware just needed a little light buffing; here are the After Rehab pics:

I used Renapur on my recently rehabbed companion bag. Maybe that is why the color variation seems more obvious now than before rehabbing. I don't know if I'll redunk or just wait for it to wear off.

My husband isn't happy that I'm growing out my gray, but I am. Especially now-- hair dye is one less thing to worry about. I inherited my curly hair from my father. My mom had totally different hair. My sister got my dad's curly hair too but hers is coarser than mine. My sister lives in Arizona. Her daughter stopped swimming when she was a teen because she didn't want to get her hair wet and have to deal with the curls and frizz. I always thought that it was sad to give up something she enjoyed for her hair.

Yes, a lot of the CG method is common sense- realizing that curly hair, especially fine hair, is delicate and doesn't get the natural scalp oils down the length of it as much as straight hair does, reducing heat and chemical processing, washing less often, and conditioning more. What I learned from my journey was about the protein/moisture balance and that my hair is actually coarse (coarse hair has more natural protein present than fine hair) so I could not get good results with products packed with protein ingredients meant for fine hair (which is 90% of products). I had to search around and find protein free products. Then I learned which ingredients are actually moisturizing, which ones are stripping, drying, which ones are silicones, which ones provide true heat and UV protection, which ones draw moisture to the hair and hold it there and what parts of the year that is ideal. I learned application methods that preserve clumps versus destroying them. There is really a lot to learn in order to make the most of curly hair. And there is a big push in the curly hair community to let go of societal standards of beauty (pin straight hair) and instead of longing for some other hair type, to embrace your own hair and love it no matter what. I honestly discovered that I love silicones because it is the only thing that makes my hair soft. So while the curly community and product manufacturers like Devacurl generally demonizes silicones, they actually serve an important function for those of us with hard water and coarse, gray, rough textured hair. So I use them and clarify every third wash or so.
This is frustrating. Now that I learn that the products I'm using may not be the best for my hair, I realize that I probably won't find anything better that I'm allowed to use. I use a medication that doesn't work if I use any products on my hair or skin that have concentrations of plant products. Most high quality hair products are made from plants.

Looks great! I have gotten ink out of the same lining with Krud Kutter spray recently. I have used successfully used acetone with q-tips as well.

I can see it being frustrating, not to mention costly, because of the industry push towards the natural plant based ingredients. Theyre in nearly everything.

I cant wait to get mine so I can join the exclusive club here.

Hi everyone, I just got my first vintage bag in the mail. I'm stoked although in retrospect I feel like I paid too much in haste- 55. I can't believe the year I went to college is now vintage lol. Anyway I wanted to ask for some advice about what I should do in terms of polishing up this one. First off the strap is a bit stretched so it doesn't stay snugly on the brass ring. Any solutions for this? There's some scuffing on the piping and a few small spots here and there. Other than that, it's a bit grimy and smells like Bounce sheets. Think a dunking is warranted? Which products should I use on the leather? TIA! ♥️IMG_20200325_224016.jpg IMG_20200325_224148.jpg IMG_20200325_224059.jpg

I would definitely dunk but make sure you have the conditioning products in hand before you start. My favorites are Leather CPR and Blackrock leather n rich. You can get both online. There isn't much you can do about the stretched out strap. If it bothers you, you could stuff something in there once you are all done to make it tighter.
