I finally finished the rehab on the really sad pocket purse, thanks to @katev. The leather is super thick and there were no holes or tears. The color is still pretty mottled, after 3 coats of CPR and 2 coats of Blackrocks...but it looks really nice, to me at least, lol. I removed all of the hardware and it was funky! I needed to do a light sanding on the turn lock face as the coating was wearing off. I didn’t have any steel wool, so I used a fine grit finger nail sanding block and it worked perfectly, thank you Sally Beauty Supply ;). I also polished it with barkeepers friend. I’m pretty happy with results and now my next big rehab is restitching a strap tab on an NYC Dinky. I actually had forgotten how horrible it looked until I was getting photos together. The before pics are from the listing, as I forgot to take some before dunking. Happy rehabbing

I call BS, there's no way that's the same bag!! Unless you went to Hogwarts School of Rehabbing with valv54? That is an amazing transformation, well done!!

Wow! Great job! Looks like a completely different bag. These bags are really quite amazing. (Edit: or is it the rehabbers who are amazing??)

They were advertising $25 or make an offer and $5 shipping earlier today. It definitely needs some serious TLC and has not been authenticated (NMA):

It's hard to read so I can't see if it was "made in NYC"? I think that it is a pocket purse and it appears to be missing the hangtag and it looks like it has some verdigris.

It could be a good "starter bag" for a new rehabber because no matter what you do it it - you couldn't make it look any worse - and I think that it could look a whole lot better with some TLC. I am always willing to take chances when I don't spend a lot on a bag and would find it impossible to wear in the current condition!

@VintageIsBest got this poor bag for only $18 and @whateve has authenticated it (is it a pocket purse?). I hope that I didn't give @VintageIsBest a bad advice - but I see a lot of potential in that abused bag!

OMG! Is that the really the very distressed Made in NYC Pocket Purse that you got for only $18?! I saw some potential in that bag but it looks better than I ever imagined, fantastic job!

Are you going to try and replace the hangtag?

I’ve never tried to find new hangtags. Sometimes I get them from coach but the last time I contacted them for the metal replacement ones the order never arrived....
