I promised some pics of the interior of the torn lining in my Butter Copley. I’m kinda surprised such a fancy Italian made bag is made of cardboard lol It has a thicker cardboard at the bottom and then a thinner board on the sides with some foam padding. The lining doesn’t seem like the seams were all sewn, some were bonded together with a tacky substance. I forget what that technique is called. I’m not sure how I’m going to fix this, when I push it all back into place you can’t really tell it’s not connected so I may just leave it haha Edit: These pics were taken after it was dunked and completely dry. I was surprised the cardboard didn’t warp!

I’m working on repainting the edging on the handle and strap. It’s a long process with a lot of steps!

I have bin following this all afternoon, you did a super job fixing the strap.
I have a black Abbie that came with a broken strap, that was the reason I got her so dirt cheap. The strap on that one was in two pieces and I didn't think glue would hold it together so I stitched it with black thread first along the seam and then all the way around. It's not a work of art but it blends in pretty well, all I use it for is to carry my inhaler, key's and phone when I take the dogs for a walk.
I will try your idea with the E-6000 glue on the handle of a tan Montichello bag that has a partial rip on the handle, the picture of the damage on that one looked much worse then the actual small tear, I think the stitching stopped it from going further.
Thanks everyone that chimed in on that conversation, I really had my daubts that Leather cement would be the right tool for the job.
Thanks for the encouragement.
Could you post the picture of your repaired strap?
Another good leather glue is "shoe goo". I just bought it but haven't tried yet. If it is durable enough to repair footwear should be good enough to repair purses. I hope it will be a little easier to work with.

Thanks for sharing, I was waiting for you to post those pictures. Now I know what is the piece that move freely at the bottom under the lining of my yellow Bleeker large flap bag. It became loose after the dunk.

I’m hopeless. Completely hopeless, when it comes an NYC bag with a kisslock inside. Well, lol for about $50. A sale of a black clutch with a kisslock fell through. So here I am with this distressed bag. Lovin it. My cleaned up Shoulder Purse is mostly likely putty. This is a shade darker, and ironically was just discussing it, a match for my taupe Patti. Wonder if that makes it Tabac. Definitely not a Brit.
I did not know there were bags with kisslocks inside! I think I’m going to have to find me one of those!

Thanks for the encouragement.

I bought this once. I used it glue the sole of shoe back together. I think it is quite thick so I think it might be difficult to use for small repairs.

Man I should have kept my big mouth shut (hangs head in shame)

That bag also still needs to be rehabed and I'll try some edge coat to blend the stitches in better.

I don’t have the style number handy, but mine have the inspired name of Shoulder Purse. There is also another bag with a kisslock that is a clutch that just folds over, with no turn lock. I am hooked on the Shoulder Purse. They're small so they are not practical for me for everyday. I don’t think they made them after 1988. But they are my guilty collecting pleasure. Along with the Dinky and Winnie.
ETA try not to get hooked! Style # 9385

I’ve been looking for a while for an affordable Winnie! And now thanks to your post, on my wish list is the “shoulder purse”! I love small bags, even if they are not practical

I have to say, my Shoulder Purses we’re lucky finds by looking at random listings as Vintage Coach or Coach Leather . That way people are usually not asking more than $50. When people listing them know the name and style number, they are usually asking at least $100. Regardless of condition. There was one in a neutral listed not too long ago on Etsy with really noticeable stains that they wanted at least $100 for.

I am not sure if all outlets have one. I didn't even know my outlet had one and when she said stamping machine I thought she meant like they could take a blank tag and stamp the cartouche on it but when I called the boutique the SA said their stamping machine only did monograms for initials or maybe a word or whatever. So I honestly don't know what all a stamping machine does or which stores should have one. Sorry!
Thank you! :)

I have a manor bag that the flap warped after dunking. With the turnlock off you can see a particle type board in there. There was some discussion about what the flap could be made out of in this thread previously. It seems to be a sort of composite leather material. Not sure what would be in your Bleecker, could be cardboard or some sort of stiff leather board who knows with Coach lol

It feels like a piece thick cardboard, like the one at the bottom of your Copley.
