Today is red bag rehab day!
One of these Station bags is going to end up on eBay but I can't decide which one. The darker red one is a NYC bag but I like the bright cherry red of the pre-1994 one. They're both in great shape. The NYC Station has really dense leather. It feels like it's been carried quite a bit and has absorbed decades of hand oils. Sounds a little nasty, but I can't think of any other way to describe it. Even the suede is worn almost smooth in some places. I like how it feels, I hope dunking it doesn't drastically change it.

I like the bright red one better, its hard to find that nice cherry color, and its in great condition. I know it sounds blasphemous, but I sold off all my Nyc bags. You could sell the NYC station as is, no problem. JMO.

I have to agree with valv54, if this was my choice to make I would keep the cherry red one.

I just dunked this beautiful teal Carnival bag and it's currently drying!

I had a question about the edges - looks like there are chips along the piping

Has anyone had any experience fixing this on such a light-colored bag? I've read that you should mix acrylic paint with leather CPR...do I need to seal it afterwards or would blackrocks over it seal it okay? Any advice for paint to CPR ratio?

Also should I put the CPR + Acrylic layer on first before any coats of straight CPR? Or do a quick condition first before applying any paint?

Do all your conditioning before using paint. I use a small amount of paint to CPR. You have to use multiple coats to get coverage. If you have too much paint it won't have the right texture. I don't seal bags after using paint. Just wait a few days before using Blackrocks as that will remove some of the paint if you do it right away.

I had this exact color in a regina, I never fixed the little scuffs. I know they dont look as bad when the bag is dry. It's a tough color to match perfectly.

Thanks for the positive feedback!! it was my first rehab  . Here is the creed... If anyone knows the color that would be fantastic. The listing said taupe but she is definitely a brown.. not chocolate or mahogany though.
When I enlarged your photo, I saw that that the year digit was a six. I would lean toward saying yours was taupe. I have a taupe Patti and have mahogany bags, so by comparison, I knew mine was taupe from the get go. Then it was confirmed by the time frame.

Sorry, I replied to the wrong person earlier! Have you tried a local source for a leather conditioner? Try equine or saddlery tack supply, or do you have camping stores like Sail? I think if you ask around you might get a comparable conditioner suggestion
hi nursebetty, asking if you are in mtl because I go to the states often and would gladly bring back cpr at cost for a fellow tpr

#whateve invited me to show my humble attempts at bag spa-ing and painting on bags in here. Unfortunately I didn´t take pics of the two painted bags I gave to a friend, but there´s one of a vintage bag I did for myself. I badly wanted a leopard skin 60ies bag and couldn´t find one, so the scratched Ackery purse I found got a paintjob.

Otherwise I only have leather painting on jackets to show. I´m a pram collector...

Thank you for asking about this (and to Valv54 and Whateve for replying). I have a Soho in a similar color and I have never decided on how to fix those worn areas. I've been considering using paint or maybe a Saphir product. Please keep us updated on what you decide to do!

I just bought my first Saphir colorant for a Dooney. If I ever get around to using it, I'll try to remember post my results.
