The price of that lunchbox tote already at $47 +$45 shipping, I won't want to get it anymore. The fabric shrinks according to Deb Barros. I wouldn't dunk it either.

The price of that lunch box tote is already at $46+$45 for shipping, I won't want to get it at this condition for that kind of money. Then this pretty lady showed up yesterday and I was very lucky the seller accepted my offer today. The only rehab needed is the small tear on the strap. Thanks Whateve for authentication the small shopper for me. A Bonnie Cashin era bag was on my bucket list, now I can finally cross that off.I know that I sound like a broken record, and my experience is very, very limited, but I have successfully dunked my one and only pre-creed Bonnie Cashin Coach bag with striped lining and it came out very well. I know that there is a risk but if the bag was really dirty I wouldn't hesitate to dunk another one - if I ever get another one! See link below:

Hi experts!
I am still contemplating a mid priced bag for a mild rehab. Dumb question.... why do all of the new bags have the black edging and the older bags the edging is just the original leather. Personally I don't like that black edging that most of the newer bags have (all brands) . is this just paint? plastic?
Thanks in advance..![]()
Katev, you did a marvelous rehab on that small shopper, absulotly beautiful.I know that I sound like a broken record, and my experience is very, very limited, but I have successfully dunked my one and only pre-creed Bonnie Cashin Coach bag with striped lining and it came out very well. Thank you Catbird9! I have a Phoebe I want to rehab for my daughter and it is nice except the edge. Much appreciated! I am super fan of no edge coating. Is Feildings ok?There are many different types, colors and finishes of edge paint based on acrylic (which is a type of plastic.) I like the more natural look of the vintage Coach edges on the older bags, but I appreciate the finished edges on higher end modern bags too. Here's a tPF discussion:

Interesting thread on edge coatings here for the technically minded:

"Fenice leather edge paint and similar professional brands are based on synthetic polymers, so they are in a sense a plastic. Most major fashion houses and high end brands use this for their goods. The main reason is that most use chrome tanned leather and this doesn't burnish, but it's not unusual to see veg tan with painted edges too. The reasons for this is mostly down to production, as larger manufacturers rely on machinery, including 'edge paint machines' for their leather goods. Among crafters the use of painting edges often have a bad reputation and many accuse cheap brands covering up low quality leather and vinyl with paint. And while this is not entirely untrue, the fact remains that in some instances there are no alternatives, and done well - it can look amazing."

I use Fiebing's Edge Kote when I want to touch up strap edges. It's time consuming and requires patience to do a good job, so I tend to use it sparingly and not very often. It dries slightly glossy. Several thin coats are best.Thank you Catbird9! I have a Phoebe I want to rehab for my daughter and it is nice except the edge. Much appreciated! I am super fan of no edge coating. Is Feildings ok?
There is another brand someone mentioned in a Hermes thread. I'll see if I can remember where I saw it. I've never had good results with Fiebings.Thank you Catbird9! That wasn't the brand. The brands this woman used were the same that Hermes used and it came out great.Tandy leather? Is that good?
thank you!
She did a really good job of it...but I actually preferred the previous edgecote. That wasn't the brand. The brands this woman used were the same that Hermes used and it came out great.

Ok...I got it...its definitely my last bag for the year.Ok...Ive been watching this bag for a while...and as I got one in black for my bestie Ive been thinking of getting one for myself.
But this one has damage to the piping that I dont think I can handle. Do you fix first then dunk or dunk then fix.
Im not likely to get it as I really am on a bag ban but would be i interested in opinions.
