If anyone is looking for a summery, beachy rehab project, take a look at the nautical bag at the link below. I think that it is the Rocker bag 16970 with the matching wristlet, they are listed for $29 total including shipping. This poor bag has been beaten to death, and it looks like the hangtags are missing, but it might clean up well.

Question- How are the vintage bags in rainy weather? I'm headed up north tomorrow in the mountains of Arizona, and the forecast is calling for a rainy afternoon. I'll be outdoors for a good portion, and was contemplating the Costa Rican Court bag because it would be terrific as a crossbody. I'll have an umbrella, but it will get wet. I have other options, but curious if anyone has used this style in real weather before.

I think they hold up fine. You'll see water spots but those will go away. I'd make sure your bag is well conditioned, then I wouldn't worry.

I have worn mine walking to work in the rain and it was fine!

I live in Manchester England, which is one of the rainiest parts, and mine do really well! Conditioning is definitely key

I carried my red Court to a rainy outdoor concert at Red Rocks Ampitheater and it did just fine! I kept it well conditioned which, as others have mentioned, seems to be the key. This is why I love vintage Coach. I never worry about my bags in any weather.

Hello my always helpful experts.
I would like to ask (because I really do not want to mess this one up), if I should dunk this bag or just try first with leather cleaners. The inside needs cleaning too, but I am concerned about the green bleeding out. Adding vinegar to the bath water could help?
And to clean the kisslock leather that has darkened with use, I am trying to remember reading you sometimes use very fine sand paper? Is that correct?
TIA

I've washed several vintage green bags and I've never had any problems with bleeding. One I washed multiple times because it had a smell that was very difficult to eradicate but the color held true, and the bag was enhanced by bathing and moisturizing. Even if the water gets a slight greenish tinge I wouldn't worry about it because it will probably wash out without any staining.

You could try soaking the green hangtag in Dawn soap and warm water to see if it bleeds significantly - if it doesn't you should be okay; at least that's my opinion.

Thanks, that's a great idea.
