For your viewing displeasure. It’s a huge Bleecker tote, and it’s already after scrubbing with some hard core Israeli soap that’s usually enough for anything my kids put on their clothing. Looks like some major spills have happened here.
Red bags can be tricky, but I have already given baths to a few Bleecker bags, including a purple bag, and they survived the process very well.
I would fill the sink with warm water and Dawn dish soap then dump the bag in and let it soak. Don't be too concerned in the waters gets a reddish tinge, it usually washes out well.
Then I would take a soft nail brush and a tooth brush and start scrubbing and directly applying Dawn to the worst areas. There are other things you can try (like acetone nail polish remover) to specific stains like ink.
If it is still dirty I would change the water and suds and wash it again. When you are satisfied that it is clean, soak it in plain water and rinse well. Allow it to drain awhile and then stuff it with towels and clean rags to shape it into the normal shape and let it dry, turning occasionally.
The next day remove the towels and rags and continue turning it occasionally while it dries, be careful to maintain the proper shape. Rub in some leather conditioner (I like Leather CPR) let it rest and then apply a second coat if it feels dry.
When it is dry and conditioned you can burnish the leather with a soft cloth or a clean horsehair shoe brush and then attend to the hardware, is it brass or nickel? And then you are done.
When a bag doesn't come clean with sink washing I have tied it up in pillowcase and run it through the washer with woolite - these bags are tough and usually come out great!
