I have no idea which is which. I think* they are all supposed to be the same color. Not sure if the official color name burgundy or Oxblood. I think at one point there was a plum. I believe the dye batches varied from time to time. The other experts here can you tell you more. I was mostly hunting "burgundy" when I found these.

My full size photo from my Avatar is here somewhere. I can never remember the post #. So here it is again for your viewing pleasure. View attachment 4398177
 Thank you! It's a plus there are different shades of red. I mixed up the one on the right with your new purple one and wondered why it looked red. These new rehabs have gorgeous wine shades!

My shoes are all in their boxes way up high in my closet, while my bags are stored in plastic bins down below, so there is no shoe contact whatsoever. But depending on the amount of closet space one my have, and not everyone babies and loves on their handbags like those of us here, I can see them mingling in some circumstances.:amuse:
We have a shoe cabinet ( a bookshelf with doors) and since I'm the only girl, I get more room. And I don't need a lot of shoes...this will not be good if I start wanting more shoes!! I do have a variety of colorful sandals. I got booties for the winter and realized they wouldn't fit. DH laughed because I wanted to keep the sandals in there all winter too. I like having space boundaries for storing things so I can see and use them all. Your closet sounds luxurious though to have the shoes in boxes so you can find them easily too!

You have a super gorgeous collection!! Would you be willing to say what bags they are? I recognize a couple (Willis & Penny) but would love to know the rest. I especially love the little bag on the top row, far right. And the first bag on the second row (far left). [emoji7][emoji7][emoji7]

Thank you! I'm going to give it a try:

Top shelf from left to right:
Dinky tote, Belmont, Companion zip, Derby.

Middle shelf: L to R
Carlyle, Bonnie Cashin big mouth kisslock, Slim satchel, Dinky.

Bottom shelf: L to R
Shoulder purse, Twin clutch, Basic, Willis.

I may not be correct in the very first one. It could be a "small tote". I need to look it up again.

I have never dunked a Manor Bag, so my recommendation was based on an assumption that there was no cardboard in the flap. I can't say for sure that there's no cardboard in an authentic one, but I would be surprised if there were.

@nursebetty's post quoted above said she had dunked two of them, and only one of them had a problem. And here is a post by @Transported who successfully dunked one:
Coach Rehab and Rescue Club

The only Coach bag I am pretty sure has cardboard in it is the Binocular Bag. I dunked one of those and it came out fine, no wrinkling. As with all rehabs...YMMV!

.
It was a while ago that I rehabbed the taupe manor.... But there was no cardboard. The flap is double sided leather.
it really did rehab well...... have smaller towels on hand that you can use to stuff the bag with the divider gets in the way so I folded small hand towels to stuff the bag with while it dried. it really did go fine. You can also roll a washcloth or small hand towel to put under the handle to support it white it dries They are beautiful bags. You will do a great job!

Mine are opposite. Shoes on the floor area on shoe racks, and handbags on the top shelf. But I don't think shoes in a closet normally cause smells anyway. Maybe if you had some super sweaty gym shoes, but before my handbag days my clothes were always with my shoes and there are no smells, lol.

I really don't want to freak anyone out but I am certain that the manor I dunked - and warped- had fibreboard between the two layers of leather on the flap.

I actually removed the turnlock and pried open the leather cutout to see the insides. I had been hoping to perhaps build up the low points in the now buckled cardboard, using something that wouldn't cause mold to grow ( I'm still thinking through this idea). Anyway, the inside is positively fibreboard. I am certain now that I warped both of my Manors, it's just very minor on one of them and wouldn't have noticed if I didn't reference the 'before' photos.

It is certainly posdible that I didn't flatten the flap properly when drying. Perhaps I just didn't weigh it down for long enough? Perhaps the buckling occured slowly with a still damp interior layer when the outside seemed dry? I remember being concerned about mold growth and may have just not given enough drying time weighted.

If I were to buy a Manor again I would not dunk unless I really had to. That's just my experience though!

If you do dunk, I believe that the fibreboard also runs under the handle, and along the back top of the bag. That's where the warping is for me on my other bag. So I would work out some way to weight that whole paneled section when drying. If you feel along that area you can feel the stiffener in there.

Finally - and this might seem bonkers - but I would also clean the ring on the flap for turnlock and put it back before dunking, as it will help align the leather layers and fibreboard when drying. Just allow for that protrusion when drying the flap - say by cutting a hole in the board your using to flatten the flap.

I hope that's a bit helpful? If not, just ignore. I might just be unlucky with this style bag :)

I am betting it depends on how many shoes one has. If it's only a few pairs- expect stink! I have more than I care to admit, so I rotate them like crazy. Hence, no smell. And, some people just have smelly feet, ie. my teenage son! If I stored my bags near my sons shoes, I can imagine they'd smell like Foot Court!

That is a good point about the number of shoes. I have a lot! lol. (if I like a shoe, I have duplicates in more than one color and some backups if the shoe appears to be on the way to being discontinued) They definitely get rotated to get used as they have different seasons, different colors, different purposes :-)

Hehehe I see now why you got confused! Just found this in the authenticate this thread: they are burgundy after all! View attachment 4398636
I love seeing these old catalog pages. It reminds me to ask, were some hangtags made to just have Coach printed on one side wtih smooth leather and the other side is the suede like/unlined leather? I have one hangtag like that, but the rest are not that way and have smooth leather on both sides.
