Would anyone like my failure?....It mocks me!!
Feel free to scavenge for parts , use as practice for a new conditioner , cleaner or dye.
I had thought of dying it myself , but I just know I would never get around to it.
I own this failure , not having the right cleaners or conditioners , going full tilt and screwing it up are all my fault. Only piece missing is the thingy that holds the shoulder strap together when you shorten the strap.
So if you are interested , first to respond Yes will have it sent to them with my compliments.20190302_072735.jpg 20190302_073000.jpg 20190302_073014.jpg 20190302_072939.jpg

Yes, please. I was looking for a bag that I could dye if you're sure you want to give it up.

Hi, all. It's been a while! I have a problem with the strap on my vintage Madison Sutton purse. The screw that holds the strap to the lobster clasp keeps undoing itself. I'm walking down the street then, BAM, the purse is on the ground. I re-attach it but it seems like either the threads are stripped on the screw part or because the clasp swivels and it's undoing itself. Anyone have the same problem?

Can you post of picture of the clasp to show where it is coming apart? I've never had a strap come apart, but the only Sutton I ever had was missing the strap.

You might have to glue it with something like Gorilla glue or E6000. It will no longer swivel, but at least it will be more likely to stay together.

Hi, there is nothing coming apart visibly. I think the problem is the clasp is sort of on a swivel and it's undoing itself, although how it does it while it's across my body is beyond me. I may just take CB9's advice and Gorilla glue the threads. It's a drag because I have a couple of other Madisons that I used the strap for.

Is that wallet from the Gramercy coach line and made in Italy? Does it have suede-cloth lining and brushed gold hardware?

You have to be careful using a thick white conditioner on that type of leather, you would have to put it on very lightly and wipe it off quickly. I would be more likely to use a light conditioner on it, like Lexol or Leather Therapy.

At the link below you will find before and after pics of an Italian Gramercy Zip Bag that was made in Italy in 1998 with the style number of 7001. I rehabbed it several years ago. It was really dirty and beat up so I gave it a bath, but from what I can see of your wallet that probably won't be necessary. I have had both good luck and bad luck with dunking wallets so I usually try to avoid it unless it really is necessary.

I rehabbed a Gramercy purse that was in rough shape. I believe I washed it. I wouldn't dunk the wallet. It looks like it is in great condition already. You can touch up the color on the corners.

Question for you, ladies, who had experience with dunking Gramercy bags. I came across one of them on the Marketplace that looks badly misshapen (not sure if it has other issues as there's only one photo). I was wondering if this particular model has any kind of cardboard or other stiff base/carcass that would warp after drying up? I'm both tempted and scared...
