Hi all! I found a COACH Legacy Archival Two-tone Blue Willis Crossbody at the thrift #K1220-22409 like this one below and there are two things that I need help on. First, the turnlock is broken and missing the top piece that turns. Is this something I can fix myself? Where would I purchase it?
Also, this beautiful bag has a pungent tobacco smell. Since it is fabric inside, do you recommend dunking? Is so, what cleaner do you recommend?
I would greatly appreciate your response. It looks like the one in this pic

I don't think you could replace the broken part of the turnlock yourself. The back of that part is covered up by the lining. Other opinions welcome of course.

I would not dunk the bag. Wipe it down (inside and out) with white vinegar on a clean, lint-free cloth. Hang it outdoors in a dry, shady place to air out for a few days. If that's not an option, you can put in in a tightly closed plastic container with a bowl of baking soda or activated charcoal (sold at pet stores for aquarium filters) for a few days. The tobacco smell should go away in time.

It’s just a little misshapen, the piping on the corners go under. It had a couple ( not terriblely noticable, but I think we take stock of all the things we want to try to help) half ring indentations. It’s not too bad, super soft and squishy. But the piping look really nice, no wear, and the conditioner brought the color back and covered the light scratches. I can attach a pic tomorrow.

Thank you very much!

You can take it to a coach store and see how much it costs to replace the turnlock. Since it’s covered by lining it will have to be sent away. I did this a couple of years ago with a large ergo hobo where part of the turnlock was completely gone. I think it was $45 including shipping for the repair, but it was like new when I got it back! It took maybe 3-4 weeks.

For me I had only paid maybe $15 for the bag, and they usually are listed for nearly $100 on eBay, so it was still a good deal!

Out of interest I went back in my emails, and it was only $35 including shipping for the repair and it was returned to me in 12 days! This was in April of 2017 so prices and policies may have changed. :)

Hi all! I found this on eBay, it wasn’t expensive at all probably because of the initials but I really like the style. I was getting ready to dunk it but the straps thread throughput the bag. The handles concern me too. Has anyone ever dunked a bag like this? View attachment 4346402
Yeah I dunked one that was british tan. It turned out fine. I think I took the straps out. Not sure though. There were no complications. I ended up selling it because I didn't find it comfortable. Also I don't like that it doesn't close securely.

Thanks Belicious! I noticed that too, I tried to manipulate that slider thing to see if that was it’s purpose, but haven’t figured that out yet. I think I may dunk it then. I really do like the style, but the closure is a problem. I’ll see what happens. Thanks so much again [emoji4]
