Ladies, I bet you have a much clever answer than my silly question. LOL
Do Coach nubuc/suede purses need any waterproofing or treatment, so the rain won't damage them? I have care cards for leather and fabric, but not suede. They all say treated to maintain quality overtime or something like that.
So is suede different? It has to be sprayed with something or protect it from rain....? I got one that I am afraid to ruin.
Any input will be appreciated and TIA.

You can spray with suede protector like kiwi sells. I'm not sure you really HAVE to but it does help keep suede cleaner longer IMO. I often get mine at that shoe shop at the mall I think it's called Payless that has a bogo deal going just about all the time on a bigger bottle than Kiwi.

Wow! I have a similar pink purse! It's from the Parker line. The leather was called gelato because it is so squishy.

The D ring idea to attach charms is so brilliant! I love how secure that is. And I was thinking hmmm where can I get some of those? And I just only realised I have a very ruined old Willis (I bought at GW for $8 just for parts) in my failed rehab box which I saved for something... So I pulled 4 D rings off just now and I need to polish them up a bit. I also pulled off one of those little leather bits off the end of the dowel that covers the wood and put it on my Logan which I sadly noticed the other day was missing it.

I have a success to report. I successfully managed to remove an ink line off this pre creed dinky I thought was ruined.

However the strap and strap hardware cannot be saved on this. There is also a break on the edging on the back I couldn't do much for. I did find an old strap in my collection that is likely not Coach that almost matches and will do. Or I could use it as a clutch.

Here is the bag before. The color darkened a lot. I'm not sure if it's actually british tan? For some reason I can't get the picture to upload so here's the ebay listing if you want to see. Both these beauties turned out to be pre creed! The blue one is in really amazing condition.

The pre creed colors were different. There aren't too many color charts available for them.

What did you do to remove the ink?

I put a tiny stripe of zit cream on it before washing, but I was so scared of bleaching it out (after I ruined that beautiful plaza bag recently) I only left it for a couple of hours, and it looked like it hadn't worked when I wiped it off. Then i gave her the usual dunk and somehow the marks were gone! Also I thought perhaps previous owner had tried to remove the marks herself and had bleached out the color in the area a bit, but it came back completely even after conditioning. The leather is very typical wrinkled old elephant leather I have seen in a few of my other pre creed bags. It's still a little dry but pretty good.. might need a few more applications of this and that with time.

Thanks for your reply. I will get some suede protector then.

Hello again,
You all have been so super helpful to me and i'm kinda stumped so I would appreciate some advice. This bag is perfect aside from dirty leather handles and trim, any advice on how I can get this dirt off? I did try leather cleaning wipes (you can see which I cleaned) with no success and i'm worried about staining the leather. Its just general dirt so i'm hoping it'll be easy to remove. I appreciate your help.

I would use vinegar and a magic eraser.

Love that color. I have the same bag in coated canvas, I love yours more. I tried cleaning the strap on mine too with saddle soap, it removed surface dirt but oil traces from handling is still there.

I'm in need of some expertise as I've never used anything to color leather. I'm thinking about using Wood-N-Stuff to help with color loss on this bag I'm working on. It had little black spots and when I soaked in water with vinegar the color was removed. I bought some stickers to cover some of the mess but there is no way the stickers can cover all of the discoloration. Anyway, I ran across this website which says to not use Wood-N-Stuff. What are your thoughts on this, has anyone had bad experiences with Wood-N-Stuff? Here is before pictures of the bag as well as what it looks like now, it looks pitiful.

What have you done to rehab the bag so far? You might not need to color it at all. If you give it a bath in Dawn suds, stuff it with towels to shape it as it dries, moisturize with a good conditioner like Leather CPR, and then give it a final conditioning treatment with Blackrocks Leather n Rich it will probably even out the color quite a lot and you may not need stickers and paint.
