My personal opinion? I think it’s adorable! I’d go further and add a few more, but that’s just me. I’m the crazy person who likes embellishments though, lol! Just be careful with the pins. I added one to my Station bag and the back promptly fell off the first time I carried it. I went back the added a dot of glue and replaced it with a generic back I had. I just went for it on mine-blow out embellishment!

I love what you did with that station bag! How did you do the studs? I don't know how to do that. I already have a problem with one of the backs falling off. They seem quite flimsy. I expect I could lose the pin easily if I don't somehow reinforce it. What kind of glue is best for that?

Ladies,

Once again, I would love to lean on your amazing wisdom on leather care. I found this amazing shearing jacket on Gilt for a steal. It's reversible and Isabel Marant. It's the most Lovely oyster color. But the leather is super soft and it will get dirty below are few photos. What can I do to protect it? Will Apple spray or something like that work? I know it will help, but I assume there might be a better solution. Is there something else I can do? (Yes, I know it will break my heart sooner or later, but at least I will enjoy the ride)

Thanks as always.

I bought a kit on eBay for a couple of bucks to do the studs. It’s actually quite easy once you make the hole; that took some effort and I had to buy a tool to do that.

There’s a video on YouTube I found helpful, How to Rivet Leather for Binding by Phil Crockett. The type of studs he’s using are similar as the ones I used (his are much taller).
I generally use E6000 for small glue jobs. It takes a little bit to set so you can work with it if needed.

I ended up adding one Coach pin to my bag and that’s the back that fell off. I put a dot of glue in the front around the hole and stuck the pin through and then another dot of glue on the pin back and stuck it onto the pin.

I even thought about cutting the pin portion off so it would be smooth on the inside of the flap but I don’t have the hand strength to do that.

Red leather dye can run so I probably wouldn't dunk a mixed red leather and fabric bag if I could avoid it; can you post some pictures of the bag and of the soiled areas?

Thank you so much for your help, here are some pictures. Hopefully you can see the yellow spots on the front fabric area as well as the dark spots near the coach emblem on the leather. There's also some weird dimple i'm not sure if it's a burn or wear mark. That's about it on this bag... although I realized while looking at it, it looks a bit orange, is it just me? The actual color is supposed to be Carnelian which i'm not sure I've ever seen.
I appreciate your advice, wouldn't know how to begin to clean leather or the fabric on here for that matter unless I use a toothbrush and some water and dawn?
Thanks so much!

Carnelian is an orange-red. Legacy leather is impossible IMO to fix. I've never found a paint or dye that soaks in or covers. Everything I've tried on Legacy worn corners makes it worse. You could try spot cleaning the leather with vinegar and a magic eraser. The fabric could be cleaned with a mild spray cleaner (non-bleach). I think a little water won't make the leather bleed, but I wouldn't dunk. Still, if you wanted to use a little water on the fabric, I doubt it would hurt. You can use any cleaner that is safe for fabric, but I would try to stick to those that don't need much rinsing.

Thank you for your help... I've tried a magic eraser before on leather areas, it took the color off and left it look faded, i'm sure I did something wrong, I just wet it with water, do I wet it with vinegar?
I have a toothbrush and Dawn I was going to spot clean that area of fabric with and pull the lining out and carefully and clean, i'm fearful If I get the leather wet while doing that it will bleed. The inside isn't bad so maybe I'll just spot clean to avoid that risk altogether.
How do I clean normal dirt off handles? This bag needs it cleaned but I have other bags as well with leather handles that need some light cleaning. Is there a different method for this leather versus the typical leather handles used on Op Art bags?
I'm very curious to learn how to use this magic eraser properly, I Swore it would work. Continued thanks for your incredible advice.

I dunked my Beaumont bag, used a little bit of Dawn liquid and thought I rinsed the bag out well but now that it's dry it still has the faint smell of the Dawn. Is this normal or did I not rinse it as well as I should have? Should I have done two rinse water soakings?

I've never noticed this (so far) when using Dawn. They do make a "dye-free, no strong perfume" formula called Dawn Free & Gentle, but I haven't tried it.

It never hurts to rinse twice, and I like to use vinegar in the rinse water.

The faint perfume smell will probably go away eventually on its own, or you could try wiping it down with a clean cloth moistened with diluted white vinegar and setting it outside in a protected area (not in the sun). The fresh air will help.

The leather coloring may be too sensitive for the magic eraser. Vinegar is the gentlest thing you can use on leather. Dawn is fine on the fabric except that you will have to rinse while making sure the leather doesn't get soaked. The lining can be washed but it will wrinkle.

This is very helpful, thanks! I think it's okay for the pin backs to stick out on the back of the flap but I wouldn't want them poking inside the bag, kwim? I might ask them at the outlet if they have some extra backs or something as I feel like the particularly ones that keep falling off are faulty while others get a good strong hold. I have lost one too.

I never thought of Vinegar thank you...I will try a damp cloth with vinegar... for the fabric bags, i use cold water and a few drops of Dawn in a wash basin, use a toothbrush on the spots, then drain and rinse with cold water. I squeeze as much water as i can out of your creed, blow dry just that area on cool, Then I stuff it with towels for a day and then remove them and let it continue drying.... am I doing this part correctly?
I'm trying to follow every bit of advice you wonderful ladies have given me

Magic erasers are like fine sandpaper so you have to use them with a light hand. I've always used them with just water since it's the abrasiveness of the thing that's doing the work.

Thank you, I was pretty light but it's possible I wasn't as light as I thought I was, I'll try again and pay attention. Got to hone the technique i'm sure lol we'll see how I did when it dries, i'm a bit nervous this is my first total dunk so i'm keeping my fingers crossed but I had excellent teachers
