If you ever see two women going mano a mano over a Coach at a GW, you will know I found @Belicious 's motherlode GW.
There will be three because there is this lady there all the time who just grabs all the old leather Coach... I mean like she sits there all morning waiting for them to bring out a cart full and she grabs them all before the SA even gets to shelve them. So I'm losing interest in that particular GW.. but my GW boutique is selling more trashed bags for cheaper now so that is more up my alley. Got a crescent bag for $20 today. Just spent more than an hour stripping black boot polish off it! Ack!

California is terrible for thrifting. Most stores are so overpriced when they do get something. We did really well shopping in the East and the South. In California, I've done pretty good in Escondido, Oxnard, and Sacramento.

I live close to Escondido! Do you happen to remember what part of Escondido? Downtown? I’ve never checked there...

Ugh, that is the worst.

Salvation Army and Valley Thrift. Valley Thrift has everything 50% off on Saturdays, I believe. My MIL lives in Lakeside, and a few times we've gone out with her thrifting, and hardly got anything, then on the way home we hit Escondido and found a bunch.

@Gingerone
I have used a Saphir product recolorant , I believe called Rejuvacuir. It is the one that is conditioner and dye, combined. I really liked what it did for piping and some scratches on a BT bag. I have to look up the shade, I believe it was Medium Brown. I used the Black recolorant on my Plaza bag that I bought used. It was odd in that it had no obvious wear on the piping, but had this universal fading. Even in the back pocket and under the flap. Dunking followed by Leather Therapy, Obenauf's O followed by Blackrock made the leather feel and smell wonderful, but did absolutely nothing for the fading. On the advice of another poster I did research and buy the Saphir product in black and medium brown. Very happy with how my black Plaza and BT classic comp tote came out.
If you are of a mind, do a search of this thread for Saphir and you will see my posts and the other poster.
Side note-your FP chica still makes me chuckle. I can still hear the *moo* of the barn door lol.
Hi @Lake Effect! Where did you buy your Saphir products? TIA.

They are black and medium brown. And small containers, 2.53 oz.
I did my Plaza and a NYC Pocket bag (black) and still have half the container. I plan to use it on a Patti with significant edge fading.
Edited to add, I do use it sparingly, applied with cheap cosmetic sponges. All I needed to do was make a hot mess with Obenauf's Oil once to introduce me the fine concept of *sparingly*. Ymmv.

Here’s a hardware rehab/repair solution that might help someone. I recently bought a pre-owned New Willis that I believe may have been made for Coach Factory stores after the 70th Anniversary Limited Edition was released. (Interior of mine isn’t signature stripe, has a bullet/target stamped on creed.) The silver hardware rings for attaching straps were flaking and short strap was attached differently than 70th Anniversary version, and hung oddly. I found nearly identical round carabiner spring rings on Amazon that solved my problems. The bag looks and hangs so much better now, and if I want, I can even remove the short strap if I want, which was impossible before without actually cutting it off. One tip, if you try this...place head of the pliers, in a closed position INSIDE the original rings and then spread open plier handles to open up the rings. Also, it’s easier to remove and replace rings horizontally from the side of the bag, not vertically, over the dowel. (FYI I wouldn’t normally mess with original hardware but these flaky rings did nothing to add appeal or value to the bag IMO). Cheers fellow Coach lovers!

Great tutorial! I didn't know about these round carabiner rings. And that tip about the pliers is brilliant! I can't believe I never thought of doing that. Thank you.

Thanks for the tips! I didn't know about round carabiners, that's a great solution.

Yuck. I will be happy to never do that!

Definitely helpful for me, thanks! Do you know if these carabiner rings came in a gold/brass looking finish? The link to them on amazon did not work for me.

I called Coach the other day and they said the Coach moisturizer only not the cleaner can be used on this bag. I have one too that's tan/brass and no stripe lining. I tried the moisturizer and it possibly helped it's hard to tell.

Another question for all you rehabbers:

Do all the 2012 legacy line items have the same type of leather that can't be cleaned? I'm wondering specifically about the turnlock mini saddle bag and legacy leather Penny bags.
