Hey everyone! Does anyone have rehab ideas for this used new Willis bag?

I used it for the first time yesterday and even with the wear I'm in love <3 An SA at the outlets yesterday told me I should not get any water on this style leather, so I'm wondering how to clean it.

Has anyone tried Apple Garde on used bags? It says to clean used bags before spraying, but if I can't use water I might have to leave as is.

One more dumb question: when using Apple Garde do you cover up the hardware (turnlocks, dogleash clips, leather/chain combo straps, etc) or spray those too?

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure how this forum works so please correct me if I break the rules (I went to the first post and did not see any).

I got this legacy Willis that was authenticated on TPF. It arrived and it's in a little worse shape than I would like but still worth the price for me.

Any suggestions on how to fix up the scuffs on the leather and metal discoloration? I did not realize the gold hardware was a plating, not solid.

I have heard that the vintage turnlocks are easy to replace but on most other bags you have to send to Coach for $40 to do them since access to the parts is hidden under the leather.

This bags leather does not rehab. I had a yellow one I washed and it did nothing. It remained dirty and stained looking. I am afraid the only thing left to do was to remove all finish with acetone and re-dye it but I want motivated so I sold it cheap.

Thanks for the advice. I was able to remove some blackish scuff marks using spit and a qtip (yes gross but it did the trick!).

Do you think I can protect against further damage with Apple Garde? I'm mostly worried about getting caught in the rain unexpectedly.

I can deal with wear on bag I just don't want it to get a lot more.

Do you know if any moisturizers can be used on it? It seems washing is not recommended?

I have no idea about AG as I don't have it. As for moisturizer, the ones currently available by Coach is probably the best.

Hi everyone! I have a couple of recent thrifting finds I did a small rehab (?) to. The first photo shows both before.

The red bag ( I have not looked up the style name yet) I would like to use as a crossbody, so needed to figure out a way to lengthen the strap. I won't ever wear it as an armpit bag. Hate those super short straps. The strap on the black bag - a Tribeca Bucket Bag- is pretty worn, so I needed a replacement. I put 3 coats of leather cream on the black bag, it was pretty faded and sad looking, but didn't think it was bad enough for a full dunking process.

As you can see in the above image, the bag had a buckle closure on the strap so there is still the post thingy from the buckle. Does that look silly? I will have to try it to find out if it is pokey while wearing. I didn't really want to permanently alter the bag, this way I can go back or sell it in it's original form.

The red bag is a Chelsea something or other. I bought one just like this in blue from the outlet around 2005 or 2006. At the time I didn't mind the shorter strap and carried it daily for over a year. I loved it so much! Just recently I took it out and decided that the short strap wasn't for me anymore so I sold it. It's funny how likes and dislikes change over the years!

Yesterday's haul: two trampy girls from NYC USA (first a basic bag, second a ?), a bottle green binocular bag and a BT not sure of the name -- some rectangular relative of the court bag. Anyone know the monikers?
Just for fun I am compiling a list of Coach vintage styles that have a springlock closure. So far I have:
