I wouldn't wash either of them. They should be professionally cleaned.

Here is the problem. This jacket is such a light color and suede. It will need to be cleaned a lot. I got it on eBay and I knew when I bought it, it would break my heart. But it's so pretty.....see

So, I need to figure out a way to clean it that does not cost $50 a pop. I found this and seems like it might be worth a go. Anyone used this? Looks like you scrub it down and then, just rinse it in the machine.

I'm not one to save things for special occasions, I just use it until it has no life in it.

Any suggestions or thoughts would be awesome. Thanks!

I've not heard of or used that product. Leather Therapy makes a laundry product. I've not used it, but some people in another group I'm in have used it to launder purses in the washing machine. I think no matter what product you use, you have to be prepared that your jacket (which I love, BTW) may be ruined by trying to do it yourself.

Heres a before and after i just finished. It's a 9994 backpack. Funny style.. a bit different! Stains didn't come out much but looks better overall. The straps seem really short. It only just fits on me but if I take this thing off that holds the straps together it fits a little better but I don't know if it'll stay close like that. I might not be able to keep it.

I can probably get the edges to look better with some more conditioner. I only used cpr at this point.

Thanks! Yep, I know, but now you see why I got it.

I think I'm going to try your suggestion. I don't think it will be ruined. I will get a brush and scrub it a little beforehand.

Looks so much nicer! If you decide not to keep it, someone will be very happy to get it!

I have been quietly rehabbing vintage bags based on the lore of this thread for a year or two now (Thank you enablers/wise women!!) and now have a rehab maintenance question.... I have a bag (or two) that has some wear/color loss on the edge piping. Would I have to re-bathe and moisturize these, or could I just use conditioner over what is already on there? They have been rehabbed, conditioned (CPR or leather honey/apple/whathave you) and then blackrocks. Can I layer more conditioner over existing blackrocks ...or would I have to remove (bath) and start fresh? Hoping to not bathe them, but will if it is what it takes. Also, follow up question - has anyone every used saphir cream on faded piping? I seem to recall somebody here talking about that. I would rather not use acrylic in conditioner if possible (am an art person and have dealt with a lot of paint layer issues etc - and I fearIMG_4647.JPG IMG_4648.JPG IMG_4649.JPG IMG_4647.JPG IMG_4648.JPG IMG_4649.JPG the acrylic would close the leather too much)

Here are pics of what I am talking about. (legacy zip, my most carried fave :heart:that has been rather beaten up from travel) Many thanks! *Did not mean to attach doubles, sorry.

Yes, you can just recondition as needed. Without using some kind of colorant, you'll have to condition every so often to refresh the piping. Yes, you can put more conditioner over Blackrocks. I've used Saphir cream but not just on faded piping. I usually only use it for bags I'm afraid will darken with regular conditioner, generally brands other than Coach. It has a lingering odor. I still think Blackrocks is the best for faded piping.

Thank you! "Lingering odor" is a scary phrase
Will re-do the conditioner and blackrocks.

I have used a Saphir product recolorant , I believe called Rejuvacuir. It is the one that is conditioner and dye, combined. I really liked what it did for piping and some scratches on a BT bag. I have to look up the shade, I believe it was Medium Brown. I used the Black recolorant on my Plaza bag that I bought used. It was odd in that it had no obvious wear on the piping, but had this universal fading. Even in the back pocket and under the flap. Dunking followed by Leather Therapy, Obenauf's O followed by Blackrock made the leather feel and smell wonderful, but did absolutely nothing for the fading. On the advice of another poster I did research and buy the Saphir product in black and medium brown. Very happy with how my black Plaza and BT classic comp tote came out.
If you are of a mind, do a search of this thread for Saphir and you will see my posts and the other poster.
Side note-your FP chica still makes me chuckle. I can still hear the *moo* of the barn door lol.

Sweet style! Today's haul is a feed bag and a Frye messenger bag -- the first I've found. My rehab pile is huge right now. Good thing DH is going away for a couple of days. He hates my bag habit, which he compares to smoking dope.

Clearly the universe wants you to have these bags - your thrifting luck has been outstanding! Jealous of the feedbag. Besides, rehab-able bags are much much cheaper than dope.

I did put a teal suede Bleeker Haversack in the washer closed off in a pillow case , using cold water and 1/2 tbsp of baby shampoo on the advice of a few peops here. It did lift a certain amount of surface grime off. And mine was a grimy $20 GW mess.
I feel you. I could feel the urge to run it through.

I have the same “too short” strap problem with mine too. I usually end up with it on one shoulder. I didn’t think about removing the slider thingy...

Thank you! I think it was you that I was thinking of, because it was a BT bag that was being touched up. Saphir brown color charts are v. confusing - how ever did you match it? I may start with the black, as that is easy. I can't search here at the moment, so thank you for helping me out.

My FP chick is an accurate representation
