Hi everyone,

I'm not sure how this forum works so please correct me if I break the rules (I went to the first post and did not see any).

I got this legacy Willis that was authenticated on TPF. It arrived and it's in a little worse shape than I would like but still worth the price for me.

Any suggestions on how to fix up the scuffs on the leather and metal discoloration? I did not realize the gold hardware was a plating, not solid.

I have heard that the vintage turnlocks are easy to replace but on most other bags you have to send to Coach for $40 to do them since access to the parts is hidden under the leather.

Hi and welcome! I don't have any experience with this style or it's leather so unfortunately I can't help. Most of my bags are older and unlined. And there was some posting back at one point thst indicated the leather on this style was processed differently from the vintage leather. But it you can be patient, I am sure others will respond. Give it a few days and good luck. When @whateve is available, I am sure she can offer help.

I tried to bolster the cracked piping on my Dooney with glue and puff paint but just made a mess of it. That technique doesn't work on the stress points. I'm getting rid of the bag, because I lost my tender feelings for it.
That's sad. :( Yeah, I'm not sure there's anything you can do about it. I don't know what's wrong with that edging but mine crumbles easily under my fingertips. There's no repairing that. I kept it in case I need some dooney parts for something.. or some leather to craft with or something like that.

Hello fellow Rehabbers,
I bought this bag as my first rehab project. It had a large gash of white paint, on the front. In my effort to clean it up, I may have rubbed too hard, but there is a definite indentation and darkening in that area, despite dunking, cleaning, Black Rock twice and several buffings. I love this bag, but dont know if I can fix this issue.
Do you think I should dunk it again and start the process from scratch? In your experience, does a gash go away with anything?

I am not sure it will go away. Let’s see what others say. But some of these leather bags (esp in BT) are prone to a certain amount of variations either from the nature of the individual piece of leather or the dings and minor stains of life. I tend to be forgiving of the minor variations either natural or created by me! And enjoy the overall feel and look of the bag. And by the way, your bag looks great to me , overall.

Wow! You've made this bag look so much better! It looks great. In the pictures at least, it looks like it won't be very noticeable unless inspected. I hope with wear it gets even better & you enjoy the new bag!
