I use a product called Fabric Fusion, and I use a toothpick to apply it to small areas. If you could post a photo of the split in the strap it would be easier to offer advice for the repair.
I used to use fabric fusion and I have found it doesn't always hold that well.. Sometimes it was okay. Now I'm using some leather glue that is really good that I picked up at Orchards. This is the best glue I've ever used for leather IMO.

This stuff is bad, doesn't hold at all and isn't waterproof either:

Yeah the color palettes are pretty much useless, I've found. Seems like there was a lot of variation in the colors of the actual bags as they came out of the factory!

Here are a few of mine that I think might be Saddle, British Tan, Buckskin, and/or Tabac. Buckskin is on the Lightweights color palette, but I think it might have been used in the classic bags too (just a hunch).

Here are my mystery neutrals. I think the first one is putty, and the second - tabac, but then there are two more yellow ones.

May the rehab gods be with me this long weekend. Here are my projects: essy yellowish nyc stewardess to start. No issues with her. Even the brass seems mostly intact on her feet!

Hi Ladies,

I'm hoping to get some advice about a shearling jacket. We have a local leather shop and I talked to them about cleaning my shearling jacket that is leather on the inside. They said it was $150. Wow, sticker shock. They said, don't take it to a dry cleaner because dry cleaning will hurt the jacket - I buy that. But, is there some thing I can do that is NOT $150 to clean it. The shearling is on the inside of the jacket and I wear it with Tee-shirts all the time, so it just has gotten dirty from lots of use on the inside.

I know this forum is about bags, but I thought you all might know a thing or two about this. Thanks!

I don't think I would wash it. The leather might get stiff. Maybe you could just wash the furry part. https://customsheepskinjackets.com/about-sheepskin-outerwear/shearling-leather-care-cleaning

I know leather cleaning is expensive. When I lived in Maine, they shipped the items to Canada for cleaning I think because of chemicals.

When I used to travel to Santa Fe, there were some shops that sold shearling coats. Maybe call them and see what they recommend or if they can give you some guidance. The store is called Overland Sheepskin Company and their phone number is (505) 986-0757. Their website: www.overland.com has some info but not very much about cleaning. Maybe there is someone they recommend and it may be cost effective to ship it to that vendor to clean? Just a thought....

Hi, all! I purchased this pitiful bag for a song and it came in today. I knew it had been abused so expected the worst. After a few coats of conditioner, it looks 100 times better but just curious if you think it can be improved by a good dunking. It still seems very dry around the edges and there’s some minor color loss. For the deal I got, I can deal with minor imperfections though.

Wow what a difference a few licks of conditioner makes! I wouldn't dunk it unless it's dirty inside. Looks nice now.

Gorgeous bag and a great find! I would only wash it if it was dirty and I wanted to make sure that it is clean. How does the lining look?

Did you try applying Blackrock's leather n rich? That usually does a great job of hiding imperfections and color loss. You have to apply it very lightly, let it absorb and then buff it. If you still see imperfections and color loss you can lightly apply another coat. If you apply it too heavily it feels tacky and sticky. I use a horsehair shoe brush to buff it.

But I am sure that you know all this already because you are a dedicated rehabber, beautiful color on that bag!
