The 1996 Patricia is probably Mahogany but since there was also a color called Taupe that looks VERY close, it could be that too. Here are 1996 color swatches:

The Legacy Zip (do you know what year it is?) might be British Tan, but it's hard to be sure until it is completely dry.

Beautiful bags!

Thank you Catbird9! Who knew there would be so much to learn about purses.... lol:frown:

Mahogany and British tan. It would help to see the years the bags were made.

Thank you whateve! I have been stalking the posts learning from all of you how to take care of these bags.
I put apple on both, two coats for the Patricia since she was soooo dry, and I don’t have my lexol yet. Finishing with Blackrock. I got scared with the legacy zip, after the apple it looked like there was a darker steak. I wiped left over apple from my rag on it and it went away:eek::panic:

So guess what everyone, I finally got my first rehab project!!! Happened by a thrift store next to wk today, and ended up w a gorgeous JC leather open tote/satchel. It's REALLY dirty & has really visible scuffs all over it. Some scratches.
Is there some kind of beginner-tutorial anytime could suggest?
Which leads me to my next Q:

Advice pls: at first I thought just wiping out w warm cloth would do something significant. Guess not! Should I just take leather wipes to it? Launder it? I'm at a loss bc I have no idea how easy/hard what I'm imagining will be. Thx!

Late, but just in case this is useful, let me drop a few suggestions.

In addition to the great advice you've been given about cleaning the lining, don't forget to vacuum the inside! Also switch to the slender head attachment (don't know the name) to get in all the corners and crevices. I'm currently also rehabbing a JC rescued from the thrift store, but mine is a velour purse with leather. If it isn't too badly scuffed or dry, Apple conditioner might be enough help with the scuffs. If your bag has any lingering smells on the inside, I've found that putting little bags of potpourri inside the pursing, zipping it up and leaving it for a few days really helps - even with the JC velour. (My favorite potpourri is the one made with citrus!) Also, stubborn spots of dust/dirtiness that don't want to come out on the interior, you can try using a Q-tip to reach. In the case of the Juicy that I'm working on, I turned the bag partially inside out (not all the way because I was worried about bending the bottom), spot cleaned with diluted baby shampoo and gently rinsed out the shampoo by dabbing with a damp little towel. I first tried laundry detergent but it was difficult to work out of the cloth interior. Because I don't want to risk the glue running or getting product on the leather, I've been spot cleaning slowly, working my way across the interior of the bag, and I figure that - eventually - I'll have washed the whole inside. Although it is taking a while!

As for the exterior, to deal with spots on the leather, I first rubbed a q-tip slightly damp with water on the spots. Some of the marks had not actually penetrated the surface and came off easily. I then just dried off by dabbing gently with a little towel. For more troublesome marks, whateve's suggestions are more useful.

I've used bath salts for odors and they worked well.

Lexol is pretty much like Apple, I think. I don't think either conditioner is enough for rehabs. They are fine for maintenance but for rehabs you need something that works better, like Leather CPR. I don't think conditioner will soak in as well once you use Blackrocks, so make sure the bag is moisturized enough before you finish with Blackrocks.

Nice looking rehabs and was happy to see you score these on the AT thread. Twins for the Patti! When I got mine, initially I was disappointed because it was a cooler taupe brown and not a warm chocolate brown. Then I got a chocolate brown Ranch and put that in heavy rotation and Patti went by the wayside. But I pulled her out, gave her a try and now I am using the Patti regularly:biggrin: The leather on it is really fabu so that will almost always win me over ultimately. Also I double the strap and that makes this bag work great for me.

Thanks for confirming the taupe choice.

I have been wondering about that, I will get the leather cpr today. So if I want to condition a bag, after it’s had Blackrock, will it soak in- say after six month to a year.

I don't think Blackrocks lasts that long. Maybe a few months. Before that, conditioner will probably soak in some but not as well. For maintenance on my bags, I usually use Blackrocks anyway. It protects them from stains and color transfer some, and it hides scratches.
