Both are quite beautiful, Joodlz! And your 'fix' for the slouch is so clever.

Thanks!

Joodlz - I think it's lovely!

I posted this a week or so ago on the "seen in the wild" thread, but seeing your photos, I just had to post it again! Your bag looks so much nicer than the one I mention here:

Late last week, I had occasion to give a presentation before the board of directors of a firm I have been courting.

Before the meeting started, everyone was milling around, chatting. I happened to notice that one of the board members, a woman I had never met before, was carrying a cute little vintage Coach bag.

I walked up to her and said, "Oooh - a red Abbie! I love it! It's adorable!" The woman looked at me as if I were speaking Greek, then said, "What?"

"Your purse!" I said. "It's an Abbie, isn't it? I love vintage Coach."

She looked down at her own purse with disdain. "This?" she said. "I have no idea. It's some old piece of cr** my sister gave me for Christmas. She said she got it on eBay. I'm only using it because I'm wearing red today."

:D

Thanks! LOLOLOL...and thanks for the giggle du jour :)

Thank you for the welcome :) I do not have the actual bag yet, I will post more pics when I get it. It is a 9579 like this one but it is the blue grey. I do not know a lot about it besides it is from 2003 and has minor marks, I figure I will need at least a suede cleaner for upkeep but I am not sure which is best for this type of bag.

I've never found a commercial suede cleaner that works well. What works best is usually a bath and a suede brush. There are suede erasers too. You can lightly sand or use steel wool on marks that don't clean off in the bath.

I've had good results using a paste of baking soda and water and scrubbing with a toothbrush on lighter-colored suede. You might try it on an inconspicuous place and see. Sometimes just a bath and brushing with a suede brush will do it. Post pics, I'd love to see your actual bag. Good luck!

I have the identical bag! When I bought it from Savers, the sides were tucked in, but when I rehabbed it I untucked it like you show it. It's a nice little bag.

It's a really nice size bag...I'm working on another one in black! I tried tucking in the sides, but they just won't stay...I'm good with it the way it is.

Great idea!!

Thanks...it's still gonna take some adjusting, but I think I can make it work.

Red Abbie looks great!!! So does the green grass and sunshine : D. I'm tired of the cold and dirty snow!!

Thanks...yeah, the green grass and sunshine are marvelous...I don't know how the rest of the northern world survived this brutal winter...I grew up in Indiana and I'm really glad I'm not there anymore!

Stunning and great idea to stop the slouch!

They probably glued the sides in place for the photo-shoot!

She's so cute and somehow you manged to make her look even better than when you bought her! I really want a red Abbie!

Thanks...I just love red Coach leather!

Did I mention I only want to pay $1 for it like Joodlz!

You should use that zip top it's gorgeous and you could fit a lot in it.

That joodlz certainly has the luck!! I want to go where she goes.

I can't quite bring myself to use zippy. I'm still admiring it. Also, at work we don't have a place to put or bags. They end up on the floor or some random spot. I can't subject it to that just yet.

I think the only state in the US that doesn't have snow is Florida. We were suppose to get more snow today. I'm not sure what happened, but it's not coming. I'm soooo happy.....still cold, but happy.

Ack! Haven't had time to get on here and comment, so will be back later. In the meantime, thought you all would like to see what arrived today - the terribly sutured watermelon tote! And whateve, check out the last pic - mystery solved!

I think I can fix this by trimming the leather back just a bit and then reinstalling the kisslock frame. I should be able to hide the holes under the frame.

Wow!! This is going to be great when you are done!! I'm looking forward to the 'afters'

Ooh, I think you'll be able to do it! The kisslock looks a lot more normal than it looked in the listing. What a shame they punched all those holes in the leather. What color is the leather? It looks almost red.

Thank you!!

For storing, be careful of dyed papers and plastics. I think paper vs plastic depends on your climate. I don't have coach dust covers for any of my bags. I read somewhere it was ok to use undyed white cotton pillowcases. So, far I haven't put anything inside the bags I'm not using.

Thank you for the tips!

Oh, this is going to be a good one! Can't wait to see it all complete!

That is going to be gorgeous when you are done--can't wait to see it. I still can't figure out why someone would have stitched the leather like that. Any clue?

Wow, she's going to look stunning! Can't wait to see it. How will you attach the kiss lock?

(As an aside can I just say what lovely nails you have, Beccabaglady! Mine are dreadful.)
