Any ideas on the dark mark on the flap? It doesn't go through to the other side, I don't think it's ink. I've washed it and it's still there though I can't tell if it has faded. I have blue dawn sitting on it now.

I'm bringing my rehab bags inside from the garage and breaking down boxes with my teeny weeny 2" knife. My goal to get rid of all the rehab bags before it starts snowing. I've noticed a few that I have no desire to work on. Like the Ivory dirty crossbody. Had anyone had success with those making them look great? Idk what I was thinking. That was a dumb purchase.

I had the same experience with an ivory Roots bag I found at Value Village for 5 bucks. It hung in my closet for a few months, taunting me. I thought maybe that I would experiment with the Saphir recolorants in a similar colour, but then I would be spending at least 20 more dollars and many hours on a bag I don't really like; that would just get dirty again. Back to Value Village it went. Now I am looking at a distressed putty clutch with a missing strap...please help me ;)

Don't do it unless you already have a strap. No one's selling a strap for less than $20!

It's a good opportunity to try the zit cream trick. Spread it on and put it out in the sun. Hopefully it will bleach it to a more uniform color. I've had luck with it on some bags and not on others.

Found this NYC bag today and it will be next on my rehab list. It's in pretty good shape, just needs a bath and conditioning. Will the handles be ok if I dunk? Also, anyone know the name and how old it might be? I have seen it here before and loved the shape, so I was so excited to finally find one! I want to say it's a watermelon tote, but I am not sure.

There is a posting on ebay for a black Coach zipper pull (or pulls?) for $13 with free shipping, see link below, but they are not the same shape as the pull in the picture that was posted by @whateve.

I think the only way to attach it to your bag would be to cut the ring with a wire cutter or other heavy cutting tool, and then use a small, split ring to thread the pull onto the zipper tab.

So I did finish up the rehab for the Market Tote. This was bid on late at night on a 7" tablet, a habit I am working on breaking lol. I was surprised at first when I woke up and saw I won the bid as was expected to be sniped out of it. Then of course after I won I saw the seller's iffy feedback. Can't lie, I saw NYC and a low starting bid and that was it for me!
So here she is, the stains did show in the auction pictures and the bag was very dry, but no real surprises. After a 20 min warm water bath with about 1/2 oz Lexol cleaner and a thorough toothbrush scrub, 20 min warm water rinse. Then about three applications of Leather CPR while drying, with a light buff in between. A very generous application of Obenauf's Oil. By generous lol, I mean I accidentally gave one of the large side panels a second app before I did the other! So I had to give the other panel 2 apps. Finished off with an app of Blackrock and lots of brushing/buffing. The leather is soft and amazing after all the product : )
So this bag probably started life as Mocha/Mahogany. Disclaimer - I feel like I could possibly qualify for tPF "worst pics ever" catagory. Stains and all, I really like this bag! IRL / natural light, it looks nice and deep and the stains are not as noticable. The brass needs tlc. Will get to that . . someday ; ) Will use it this week.

I could possibly speak for everyone who has posted on this thread (and God knows how many lurkers *Hi lurkers*), Girl, you are not alone!
For those of you that sell bags, have you ever thought of selling your *what was I thinking* bags bundled up as a "as is" lot? I see these as is /rehab special /resale lots all the time. God knows I have considered them.
