ALL I had to do to this bag is dunk her in Leather Therapy Wash/ Lexol cleaner mix, then when dry, I put about 8 coats of Leather Therapy Restorer and Conditioner on, done gradually over a week's time. Touched it up with a bit of Black Rocks. I will probably put a little more on her over the next couple of days to finalize it. And a little brass polish of course. Great work bag!!
I love this! Burgundy is my favorite vintage color! I've got to get me some Leather Therapy. Do you like it better than Leather CPR?

Hi, so I recently acquired a very patchwork swing pack (the exact same one as this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Patch...296?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item58a2f83028). It was very dirty so I decided to give it a bath. Because there are fabric patches, I added a bit of Woolite. After the bath, the bag was a lot cleaner. However, some of the blue dye from the front patches (I don't know whether it's from the blue leather patch or the blue fabric patch or both) "leaked" to the fabric patch with pink wave like patterns on the front. I tried cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide and nail polish remover but I was only able to lighten the stains from the dye. Is there anyway to completely remove them? Thanks!

she looks gorgeous!!!! wearing mine today!

Thanks...even my hubby says she looks brand new...maybe I'll take her out today!

I desperately want one of those sweet powder/baby blue vintage leather bags. I've come across two recently-- one at an antique store (hardly antique-- lol) and one on Craigslist but both were WAY filthy and WAY overpriced. Neither INSANE-O seller would budge. I hardly ever see them.

People are delusional at times, as items are only as valuable as what people will pay for them. Both wanted 100+ for badly stained/discolored bags.

That bag is SWEET Joodlz. I loathe when bags are allowed to crease up like that. I nearly bought a pebbled pale brown (I'm bad with color names) Sonoma flap on Ebay but caught a suspicious line in the pic and when I asked the seller she admitted it did have a storage crease. I have a black pebbled Sonoma and, I might have been able to work that crease out, but it was just too spendy for the effort, IMO. The flap on the pebbled Sonomas is thick and that leather was light in color. I worried it wouldn't give.

I'm rehabbing a Lexington Flap Briefcase for my husband now, it's going ok (I should have taken before shots) but the front pockets are badly, IDK, scuffed? Strangely scratched? I hit it with mink oil after I worked through the Musette again last night and I think it may have darkened them a bit more but they almost have a -- whitish(?) sort of stain to them (?) It's so weird. I don't particularly care for the bag but he tends to carry two laptops around like a weirdo and the simple Coach Metropolitan he has now is just way too small. I'll be rehabbing that soon too. It's a mess. It was in meh shape when I bought it for him. He didn't want "the pressure of a nice bag," lol. This Lexi is going to delight him.

Thanks! Can't wait to see your hubby's briefcase.

Here’s my Blue Paris Bag #4105 - finally finished! Before pics are here: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-818914-236.html#post25100621

Nothing out of the ordinary, as far as rehab goes. There were a bunch of white spots on the front like on the seam below the magnetic snap on the “before” pic that melted right away in the bath. The biggest issue was on one end of the strap where the inside stabilizing stuff had started to disintegrate and pop out of the leather. I pushed it back in place with a toothpick, filled it with acrylic gloss enamel and secured it with binder clips to hold it in place til it dried. Painted over with a mix of blue and black acrylic and it’s now secure and camoulfladged! (Please ignore the brass...I just wasn't in the mood!)

I spent a few days obsessing over the flap. It had a crease right along the top edge, probably from being stored flat. Throughout the conditioning process, I kept rolling it every which direction to try to smooth it out. The lining on the inside of the flap makes this difficult, but I think I improved it. Probably will get even better with more exercise.
What do you use to condition?

Do you recommend Leather CPR? Just wondering as I'm compiling a list before I buy :)

Also wondering why you chose Leather Therapy Wash/ Lexol cleaner mix VS Dawn?

Can anyone suggest how to get these pen marks out of my new-to-me Mini Tanner? I used a Magic Eraser and took some of the color out of the leather. I'm pretty sure the pen was a ballpoint. I tried to make it look better with Leather CPR but without much luck.

Sorry for the photobombing cat.

Your cat is adorable! I think your best bet is to buy some acrylic paint ( you may have to buy a couple to mix ) it's cheap, 99 cents a bottle at Walmart. Mix the color that matches, or if you are lucky take the tag with you to the store and match to the bottle caps. Make a mix of leather CPR and your paint and blend into the leather. Do once and let dry and see if it helps. If it does, do another coat til the ink is blended in with the rest of the bag. If that wasn't enough you will have to blend in the straight acrylic paint, and you should be ok. I would do both entire pieces on each side of the zipper for continuity. The mini Tanner is a beautiful bag, good luck!

I'll show some photos of what I have. My blue ones are in such great condition, so I can pretty much tell what color it is "supposed" to be, and as far as I know, the Paris was probably only made in 1989. I have a few catalog samples from around that period and there's no mention of from 1990 on that I can tell. The last page I'll show here has what I believe is the blue color. I am sure I am missing some catalogs here and there tho'. It came in the standard lightweight line "blue" as described in catalog pages. I have 3 catalog pages I can show you actually.

here's an old photo I took, showing only one of my 2 navy bags. They were fairly similar in condition tho'. The blue needs some conditioner, but the tan was about perfect!!

Oh my gosh! I remember that catalog and I remember my trip to the outlet in Amagansett where I couldn't decide between the mahogany and the natural Paris bag, so I got both. Here they are:

Hello ladies! This is my first Coach rehab and I am having trouble so I hope you girls can help! I have an older vintage pocket purse bag maybe 1993 to 1986. I tried to condition it with apple conditioner and while it did help, it doesn't feel as soft as the mid 1990s bags.

Do I need to use another conditioner or is it because older bags are thicker? Thanks in advance!

I've been out of the loop a few days, sorry to leave you all hanging:

She is such a gorgeous color---one of my favorites! Great job on her:smile1:
thank you! I too love this burgundy so much!!

I am really LOVING Leather Therapy restorer for dry bags and for a first coat in general. It has more of an "oil" feel and thus doesn't seem to get any kind of build up since it absorbs fast. I love Leather CPR for a second-tier conditioner for bags needing a lot of work, and for touch ups on bags I've already rehabbed and that just need freshening up.

So informative! Thank you

Also wondering why you chose Leather Therapy Wash/ Lexol cleaner mix VS Dawn? I do use Leather Cpr a lot since it's easy to find, affordable, gentle, and does a good job on almost all leather projects. I also started worrying about long term effects of soaps used on leather. I think any soap, dawn, etc. is great but I always makes sure they are rinsed really well. I guess I started feeling comfortable using a wash that is truly specifically made for leather. And leather Therapy wash seems to do a great job, yet is gentle. Dawn is probably good for oil spots and tough to clean spots.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR BAGS! I have been wearing my Paris bags this week. I really enjoy them. I love that they are wide at the top, not deep so you're not having to paw through a cavernous bag, yet big enough to handle my kindle, large wallet and my larger wristlet. It's so classy looking. I can't believe I'd not stumbled on one of these sooner!!! I imagine since they were made for such a short time, they just aren't terribly common to find is the main reason!! I am going to have to accept that there is going to be bending on the flap top. such a wide bag that is up against a curved body is going to have to "give" a little and there are some "bends" in the leather flap because of it. But I am loving them!! thanks for the photos! I want a darker brown one now LOL. Heck, one in each color !!!!

sorry my response to your question got stuck within the question itself when I did the multiple quote feature, but if you read it all my answer is in there somewhere LOL.

This 1998 Daypack #9791 was my Holy Grail when I found her at Goodwill back in 2007 for $24.99. She was always my go-to bag for trips to Disney - big enough to tote 2 rain ponchos, all my other purse stuff and lots of band-aids :) Before photos are here: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-818914-123.html#post24892105

I did things a little differently with this one. I used Tarni-shield on the brass before and during her bath. This works better for me because I don’t have to worry about making a mess on the leather. Normal bath with Dawn and good long rinse. It took 2 big bath towels to stuff this one. Conditioned with Leather CPR 2X and finished with Blackrocks 2X. I used black acrylic and gloss enamel to spruce up the strap edges. The gloss finish really makes them look new.

This bag has always had a 2-tone look, with the body being almost brown, while the piping and straps are black. Even the suede side of the flap looks more brown than black. I’m guessing maybe just not a thorough dye job on the leather but they used it anyway. Anyway, she’s unique and kinda cool!
