Hi guys, me again...
So I was drying the bag outside on my balcony ( I live on a 4plex, The are a set of stair that are on the back on the apt too so we can leave from the front or back door.... and went to go check on the bag to bring in since it was getting dark... Well. It was gone. I think someone stole it!!! I'm so bummed but I think the BF is more angry. He is walking around talking to all the neighbors.. This has never happened before! I've left bags out to dry before and no one ever stolen anything before. *sigh. I guess I won't need help getting the smell out anymore. :(

That's horrible! I hope you find it. I once had two ebay packages delivered to someone else, probably in my neighborhood, and I never found them. I was hoping my neighbors were honest but I guess not.

I wanted a smaller bag for vacation and came across his mini-Willis. I didn't get it done before I left, so I brought it with me and just finished it. It turned out great. I'm carrying it to dinner tonight I love it so much.

Before and after shots:
It came out great. It's not a mini Willis - it's a post pouch, which is pretty rare. It's such a cute bag! I figure they must have gotten the idea for the new Willis shape from this bag.

Thank you. My BF is now walking around the neighborhood on a stakeout LOL. I guess the up side is that I have another bag coming in tomorrow also...

And that sucks about your packages! I would never ever keep someone else's mail! I would either return to sender or pop it in their mailbox!

Ohh . . . that is good to know. Thank you! I don't carry small bags all that often, but it is perfect for running around on vacation. It actually holds more than I figured it would. I think it will be one of my favorites.

I bought this one on New Year’s Day at Goodwill 50% off sale for $12.50. Not really my style, but a good fit for my daughter, so I did a quick rehab as it was in very good condition to start with. BeenBurned confirmed she is a MFF Multi-Stripe Hampton Soho #10702 from 2007.

The before pics are here: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-763164-338.html#post23669611

The white leather trim was in immaculate condition, but there were a couple of smudgy spots on the front fabric. Gave her a warm, sudsy soak with Dawn and treated the spots with Soilove. A little toothbrushing took them out completely! After a good rinse I stuffed her with towels to dry and conditioned the leather. Borrowed a white hangtag from another one of my bags and she’s off to her new home in Virginia. Happy me, happy daughter!

HA! We are ultimate bag twins! I just finished this one on Sunday. $15.00 at a local thrift. It had a few spots on the fabric which I touched up with dry cleaning fluid and alcohol (ink spots), but it had a lot of color transfer on the bottom of the bag. I ended up using acetone (hardware store, not fingernail) to strip the leather which took off 75% - I bought some Apple conditioner based on everyone's recommendations here and applied several coats to soak in and then stripped that off with acetone thinking that the conditioner would emulsify the transferred color and I could get more off. That worked really well - I am about 95% gone (even hard to show in pics).

I would never try that with a patent bag because you couldn't restore the finish if you took it off but it worked on the white leather on this bag. Sorry now that I didn't take a before pic (I always forget...)

The bag has one small mark left that looks like a sharpie - didn't budge for dry cleaning fluid, alcohol, acetone or Angelus - any tips from the rehabbers? I've seen online that people use WD-40 but I don't see how that doesn't leave a huge oil stain which is worse. Hi guys, I just recently got a vintage coach that I need to rehab. It has a mildew smell... I did a hot bath and is currently drying it right now. They smell is still there...

Next, I will try the freezer to kill the enzymes. Anyone else have any ideas? I live somewhere where it has 90% humidity.
Also, for leather CPR do you guys use it for the inside of the bag too? I read that it helps inhibit the growth of mold...

Thank you:smile1:

If you are somewhere humid, you will need to kill the mild spores in the bag or the smell will come back. Hot water is a good start though most household hot water isn't hot enough for long enough to kill the spores. Soaking in a 50/50 mix of water and white vinegar for 30 minutes to an hour will kill the spores. Use just enough to cover the bag - I do it in a mixing bowl rather than the sink. Check for colorfastness first, by wiping some undiluted vinegar on a hidden spot on the bag. The smell should be gone when the bag dries, but if not you can use charcoal as recommended by Whateve or you can add some Febreze to your vinegar water as insurance.

I use Febreze for smoky bags - immediately after they get their bath, they go into a second bath for a soak in about a half cup Febreze with a gallon of water. Once I had a Patricia's Legacy that reeked so bad I kept it in a plastic bag so it wouldn't transfer odor to other bags. After the Febreze treatment, I couldn't figure out why it still had odor until I realized I had forgotten to soak the strap - otherwise the odor was gone.

I have one of these, I keep saying I'm going to carry it into a coach store to see how they react but I never have.

I got REALLY lucky on mine, it was truly like new, the suede inside was velvety. I would be very surprised if it had been carried more than once or twice if at all. Congrats! and this reaffirms that I need to give my wallet a break, I love this and haven't carried it for quite awhile.

Has anyone found a good match for Carnelian? I want to touch up the corners of a duffle. I have some Fiebings Red leather dye, which is a nice true red but wanted to check here first. Thanks!

I have... plaid I think. .. tomato red. .. something close to that anyway. ..I'll post a pic of the bottle when I get home. I use it as an edge coat

And so, without further ado,

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Mesdames et Messieurs,
Mein Damen und Herren,

I present a tPF World Exclusive Premier ...

of the Hampton Haircalf Upcycle Demi!! (complete with Mod Shot) TaaDaa!!!

I took the hairless back off altogether and wrapped the front piece of haircalf around the back. It happened that the half-round leather details on the top and bottom of the bag were similar, so I lined those up and glued/sewed them in place. I took the clip off and moved it from the front to what was the back of the bag so that it would wrap over and around to catch the ring from underneath rather than above. I covered any raw leather with black edge kote and used the tassels to make a fob, which also includes a small burgundy hangtag that I added since the bag didn't come with one.

It took me a while to figure out what to do with the bag (it almost went in my hardware pile) and then a couple of weeks to get it all put together once I figured it out. I am pretty happy with how it turned out and I think my cousin is going to love it!

Amazing!!! You have gifted hands. I love it. The redesign is spectacular!

Great work!

I hope your cousin appreciates all your hard work. :smile1:

Hi ladies. The other night I was with my book club gals and we were all talking about how we have old unlined coach bags that need some work because they have lost color. Then someone else mentioned a belt, someone else shoes. So I was wondering, is there a leather dye that works sort of like fabric dye? For instance, you put it in a big bucket and soak your items to dye them, instead of applying dye by hand individually? All of our items are black, so I was thinking why not put dye in a big bucket or large container and put all of the things in there together? Even if together is not a good idea, is there dye like this for leather? So you just dump it in, wait and rinse? Thanks for any input!
