And so, without further ado,

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Mesdames et Messieurs,
Mein Damen und Herren,

I present a tPF World Exclusive Premier ...

of the Hampton Haircalf Upcycle Demi!! (complete with Mod Shot) TaaDaa!!!

I took the hairless back off altogether and wrapped the front piece of haircalf around the back. It happened that the half-round leather details on the top and bottom of the bag were similar, so I lined those up and glued/sewed them in place. I took the clip off and moved it from the front to what was the back of the bag so that it would wrap over and around to catch the ring from underneath rather than above. I covered any raw leather with black edge kote and used the tassels to make a fob, which also includes a small burgundy hangtag that I added since the bag didn't come with one.

It took me a while to figure out what to do with the bag (it almost went in my hardware pile) and then a couple of weeks to get it all put together once I figured it out. I am pretty happy with how it turned out and I think my cousin is going to love it!
Wow! I'm looking at pics and thinking " How is she going to grow more hair? " Love how you restyled the bag, what a awesome rehab!

I've had some failed rehabs - some have failed spectacularly - but I like a challenge. .

I thought that was only me! :roflmfao:

You have to imagine the opening from "The Six Million Dollar Man" here: “We can rebuild her. We have the technology. We can make her better than she was. Better...stronger...faster.”

HOLY SH*T BATMAN!!! :woot:

Amazing and very creative thinking to come up with a solution! If your cousin doesn't appreciate it, I would! :graucho:

This a truly amazing transformation - congrats! My skills limit me to slathering conditioner on a bag...

I got a bag second hand. Upon further inspection, it's pretty dirty. Should I dry clean it or wash it? I know dry cleaning is nice but is it necessary? The bag is big but I think I have a pillow case I can use. I would spot clean but there are spots all over it!!

They are just random spots, like dirty spots. You can't really see them in the pic. Also the corners are pretty dirty. There isn't much leather on the bag.

I would wash it in the sink. I suppose you could wash it in the washing machine but I don't see any reason to subject the bag to more beating than necessary.

That's incredible! Congratulations on a job well done. I think your cousin will love it too.

Drum roll...The envelope please...The 2013 Award for MOST AMBITIOUS Rehab goes to...YOU!!! Wowza this is amazing. Great job!

Awwww... thank you! :blushing: I only broke two needles on my sewing machine...

I've been trying my hand at some fabric bags and thought this would be fun. Otherwise, it seems like all I am sewing these days are sleeper bags for my Coaches.

I bought this one on New Year’s Day at Goodwill 50% off sale for $12.50. Not really my style, but a good fit for my daughter, so I did a quick rehab as it was in very good condition to start with. BeenBurned confirmed she is a MFF Multi-Stripe Hampton Soho #10702 from 2007.

The white leather trim was in immaculate condition, but there were a couple of smudgy spots on the front fabric. Gave her a warm, sudsy soak with Dawn and treated the spots with Soilove. A little toothbrushing took them out completely! After a good rinse I stuffed her with towels to dry and conditioned the leather. Borrowed a white hangtag from another one of my bags and she’s off to her new home in Virginia. Happy me, happy daughter!

Hi guys, I just recently got a vintage coach that I need to rehab. It has a mildew smell... I did a hot bath and is currently drying it right now. They smell is still there...

Next, I will try the freezer to kill the enzymes. Anyone else have any ideas? I live somewhere where it has 90% humidity.
Also, for leather CPR do you guys use it for the inside of the bag too? I read that it helps inhibit the growth of mold...

Thank you:smile1:

You can buy charcoal, the kind you place in a fishtank filter and place it inside the bag, then put it in a Ziploc bag for however long it takes to get rid of the odor.

No, you don't have to put the leather CPR inside, it will soak thru as you apply from the outside.

I put Leather CPR on the smooth leather parts on the inside.

I wanted a smaller bag for vacation and came across his mini-Willis. I didn't get it done before I left, so I brought it with me and just finished it. It turned out great. I'm carrying it to dinner tonight I love it so much.

Before and after shots:

Thanks for the tip. Whenever I think of charcoal, I think of grilling charcoal. LOL. I actually have some grilling charcoal in a ziplock with a bag right now. Opps. :blushing:

Thanks. I guess I don't need that since the bag is still really soft.

Fabulous! Wish it was on its way to Australia. 😃 I'm sure your daughter will love it.
