The seller should have disclosed the issues. But since the seller is willing to give a complete refund, I would be reluctant to leave anything but positive feedback. I might put something about how it wasn't exactly as described in my feedback description. Have you considered asking for a small partial refund to cover the damage? I think that even with the damage, $49 is a pretty reasonable price for a city bag in British Tan. The stains look like they could possibly go away with a bath but it would be a risk to keep it since they might not.

Thanks for the suggestion. Although I have considered it, I have a weird feeling about asking for a small partial refund as I heard sellers don't like such attempts? I've never done it myself so don't speak from experience though.

It looks to me like the stains will wash out. But as Whateve said, it is a risk...
If I were buying it from Savers I would go ahead. But then I've taken some risks that didn't pan out. YMMV.

Luckily the big stain is inside the back pockets so even if the bath fails to remove it, I think it'll be okay. That said, I did try to wash a stain out of a BT bag during a bath but wasn't really successful. I didn't try anything chemical so at least it didn't make things worse.

I also believe those stains will wash out, but agree the seller should have disclosed them. I have been in similar situations and sometimes I just don't leave feedback. I would ask the seller for $10 discount, but I think you need to ask yourself if you want the bag at the price, if they aren't willing to give you a discount. BT City bags often climb in price and anytime I have paid less than $50 they have had stains/issues.

That's interesting. I haven't thought of not leaving feedback. I'll have to give it some thought as well as asking for a discount as I'm generally shy about that kind of request. Thanks for the tidbit about the price and issues for BT city bags. I've noticed that BT bags generally sell at a premium though sometimes I'm baffled about the lack of correlation between certain bags, their condition and the price for listings.

The price should not be a factor in the feedback you leave or in your expectations. No matter how good a deal you got, the item should be just as described. I got an olive Willis in almost perfect condition for $40, which I think is a fantastic deal, but I was still upset when I found that extra holes had been punched in the strap.

I generally agree with this. The description sets the expectations during the bid. If I had known about the stains, I don't think I would have bid on the item. But now that I have the bag, it changes things a bit.

I got this navy swinger bag recently and it is really faded looking. The leather seems pretty soft, not too dry. There are no ither issues. You can see the difference between the inner pocket and the exterior is pretty dramatic. If I can restore the beautiful navy color, I will be thrilled.

I have not yet given it a bath. How would some some of you experienced rehabbers tackle this? At what point do I consider dying it back to navy?

Thanks for any help!

I do agree that this is the way it should be. Unfortunately, I would say 1 out of 10 bags I buy comes SNAD. In the past few months, I have paid out of pocket to ship back 3 purchases that were SNAD. While I got a full refund, ebay's version of full refund does not include the return shipping, so then you are out those costs. I WISH sellers would be thorough in describing their items. For major SNAD I do leave negative feedback, but on smaller things, I don't.

Luckily I haven't had to go the route of SNAD - the seller usually offers a full refund once I point out the issues and show proof with pictures. Though my record is worse since it's almost 1 out of 6 if I return this one! It's especially disheartening when sellers are asked outright and then they don't recheck the item for issues.

As a seller, I've given $$ off a purchase. At Christmas I was selling Dept 56 Christmas village pieces. I sent the package off to a woman in CA packaged really well. A small piece broke in shpg, and the woman even said I did the best pkg of a Dept 56 she had ever seen. She was happy to glue it, so I gave her some $$$ off. I want my buyers to be happy. Things happen we have no control over.

Wow that is quite a color difference. The Lightweights bags have been difficult to rehab for me. The leather seems to stain so much more easily. All of mine except for a black one have faded. I have a swinger that I'm working on now. I think the original color was taupe. It came out the bath looking pretty good but after the first conditioning a bunch of spots appeared. I don't think conditioning will restore the color in your bag. I think you will have to dye it.

I have a burgundy soft satchel that had a dark, oily-looking stain. I covered that with dye but I think it is bleeding through a little bit. It isn't that noticeable right now so I'm going to leave it alone.

I've had sellers give me partial refunds before. I gave one once when one of the Christmas ornaments I had sold arrived broken.

Well. .. the donors are either very good fakes that I've kept for parts or very sad authentic bags that are in their last days and signed their donor cards lol.

I've not had to fill them in but if I did I would repunch a piece of matching leather maybe from a seam and use it as a plug. I've done that on tack before.
That's a great idea. Thanks!

There isn't a Brighton rehab thread so I help someone can help me with this. I've been curious about these bucket bags for a long time and finally there was one so cheap that I couldn't resist. It is in pretty good condition but I would like to make it better. It has black fabric lining that is glued into the sides of the bag. The lining is rather dirty. The inside of the bottom is suede. The plain leather is soft to the touch. The embossed leather is stiffer. The bag stands up by itself. Do I dare risk giving it a bath?

BTW, I posted the deal I got here: http://forum.purseblog.com/general-...-cheap-treasures-802572-357.html#post24786388

I have a nearly identical bag I bought at Goodwill last year. I think the only difference is the brown on mine is darker. I'd had such good luck bathing my Coach bags that I didn't even think that maybe I shouldn't dunk it. Anyway, I did, and it came out beautifully. There was no bleeding from the lining, and it didn't come loose or anything. The leather edges were a little scuffed and so I slathered it with Blackrocks, after a couple of coats of Lexol. It looks fantastic.

That's great to hear. I was thinking of experimenting on the other bag because I don't like that one as much, but it is in perfect condition and not the same type of leather. Thanks! I think with a bath and conditioning I can make it look new.

The stewardess I am rehabbing was not doing well so I decided I wanted to redye it. I used deglazer then applied the dye. I have a few spots to touch up. My question is, what do I after the touch ups? Do I need to seal it first then condition it? I have acrylic resolene that I planned to use as a sealer but I am not quite sure what I am doing with this one.
