I am getting frustrated by the non response I have gotten - I have belonged to this forum for several years and I do not like being locked out. My original name was millgirl 70 and I did find it at one point, but am unable to log in using it. Under millgirl I have been a member since December 2012, and every time I log in I am told that I have not belonged long enough for full membership. I just needed to vent.

I just completed a restore/rehab on a 65th Anniversay Vachetta Leigh. Jessi319 recommended I post info on it here for everyone to see as vachetta can be so tricky. It's a LONG post with lots of pics! http://sacsmagnifiques.blogspot.com/2013/05/restoration-coach-legacy-leigh-camel.html

Vent away gurl!

I wouldn't dunk it unless it was in horrible shape. You can clean it with Leather CPR and you can use conditioner and Blackrocks on it.

I've had good luck with Amodex on ink stains on lining, but it may only work if you haven't use any other products on it first. Others have used baby wipes, alcohol and Soilove.

If the lining pulls out of the bag, you should be able to clean it without getting the vachetta wet.

Try the feedback dropbox they should be able to help you.

Thanks K! I take the philosophy of others here and figure what the heck...not going to use it in this state anyway lol!

I know what you mean, sometimes it is scary to attempt to rehab a special bag; but if it is in such terrible shape that you would never carry - what do you have to lose?!

Lovely job!

I just made a discovery that I wanted to share. I am working on a mahagony Stewardess that has some verdigris problems with the brass hardware. It's not bad but I wanted to eliminate it and try to stop it from spreading. I removed as much of the hardware as possible and really went to work on it with Wenol. (I hate polishing brass but I love it when the brass looks all shiny!)

It is always a pain to pry off the pieces of hardware without damaging them or the bag (or my fingers!) to remove the verdigris, but I have discovered that the steel manicure tools in the pic below work great for removing the hardware. They are also good for digging crud out of the seams and you can easily clean them up after use.

I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner, they make the job much easier! :D

Hi,

Some advice on this casino bag would be appreciated. I initially bought this bag mainly for the strap so that I could use it for a belt bag as well. The seller wrote that it was a great bag and when asked if it was free of tears, rips, stains and odors, the seller confirmed yes to all. I received the bag and was disappointed to find a hole in the long strap, pen marks on the top strap and a stain on the lower right side of the back. There are a few other stray stains and marks. I had a hard time taking a picture of the stain - it looks darker in person. It's a british tan color so I have reservations about keeping it but would like some advice to see if the issues can be fixed without too many new purchases. I don't have the acrylic paint to mix for the british tan color (for the hole). Thanks.

Light bags like BT are hard to rehab; unless you got it extremely cheap I would return it - and I would expect the vendor to reimburse the shipping because the bag is Significantly Not As Described.
