Just found this one at my local Goodwill. $20 with discounts. I think this will be a great second rehab. Considering my first rehab was just applying Apple and a little black sharpie to corners.

This is a NYC one and I believe it's older than my 1989 Swagger. She has a gorgeous patina and I think she will clean up nicely. I've got her soaking right now, and so far the water is tan/brown. I couldn't detect any smell but sometimes my nose doesn't work!

Anyway, pretty excited.

Great find! She is going to be beautiful!

Wow, awesome find at Goodwill!
Thanks! I'm having a lucky week with bag rescues.

I'm dying to find that bag at a good price! I'm so jealous!
Ha Ha Yeah I would be jealous of myself, too!! I was delighted to see she was a NYC Coach, too.

Congrats on an amazing find! Love her color/patina!!
Thanks -- I know, right? Gorgeous patina. Such character. I'm think I'm getting hooked on rehabs.

Wheee!!! Courier Pouch. Used mine all weekend - such a great bag. You're gonna love her once you have her all cleaned up. Congrats on a great deal!
Cool, good to know the name. Is she from the early 80's? Great to hear you love yours!

Oh this is a nice bag! Congratulations, you got a great deal. Can't wait to see the "after" pictures?
Yes, I hope the after pictures will meet my visualization. Beautiful bag, but definitely needed the wash. She had lots of debris. Ooh, and nail polish and pen marks. Who carries nail polish in a Coach bag?? They need a good spanking.

Great deal for a great bag! Can't wait for the after results.

Today I bought a City Bag at Savers for $30 after their customer appreciation discount. You certainly got a better deal and I love the color!
Well, I did get a good deal. But I would like to see your City Bag. I bet it's lovely.

That's a great bag at a great price, congratulations!
Thanks, Kate! I'm pretty psychedl

I have had many bags feel slimy inside and they weren't treated with polish. I think it might have been conditioner or natural oils that were being drawn out by the bath.

Ooh, I had the slimy thing going on with my Carrier Pouch. Oddly enough, it was just the front panel's lining (the suede backing). The other suede parts were fine. I can't figure out what it was. Maybe saddle soap?? I thought at first it was smoke/tar, but I've been cleaning 30 years of chain smoking in our house and it doesn't look like what's in the bag. Had more of a yellow undertone. I swear I scrubbed it with a boar brush with Dawn, rinsed and it was still slimy. I must have repeated this 10 more times. Then I took a butter knife with a bit of serrated edge and scraped the slime as I went. That helped a lot. I know, it sounds pretty hard core, huh?! These old bags can really hold up. That's for sure. She's finally stuffed with towels and now it's wait and see.

What dye do you guys use, if I decided to do any touch ups? I bought the Tarrogo and did not like it. I see Fieblings mentioned a lot.

Thanks for your support!

This little cutie recently arrived. I don't have a name for her, (going to post in the id this thread). It is from 2004, and is in really good shape, except for the for the previous owner spilling some coffee down the side of her. She's not especially dirty, no obvious color loss/wear on any of her corners, and the leather feels very, very soft and smooshy. Just a little coffee stain, (she even smells faintly of coffee, but I probably do as well, so whatever!). Even though she is lined, I decided to dunk her. The lining is yellow, and I figure that any color that bleeds from the light brown leather is going to be close enough in color to the lining that it won't matter. She's in the tub right now, so I guess we'll see!!!

Agreed! Burgundy is in my favorite color (red) category, but more of a neutral, I think.

It's been not quite 24 hours since Miss CP has been drying. Still damp. I applied a light layer of Apple. So far so good.

Do you worry about the thread as far as its durability for over 20 years?

No. I have a pre-Creed courier pouch, so it is almost 50 years old. The thread is fine.

This is part of the Chelsea line. I have the larger satchel in pond leather and a larger signature version of this bag.

You know the bag I rehabbed that turned out to be fake? The one that said "This is a Coach beanbag"? Remember the seller refunded my money and said she was going to send a real one? Well, today DH mentioned that he bet she wasn't going to send it after all. I went out to the mailbox and there it was! The fake bag was a black basic bag. This one is brown but is missing the long strap. It is very worn. I should have taken a picture but I was in too big of a hurry to get it dunked. I'm excited about the challenge!

You think that's bad, look at what someone did to this poor Italian Carlyle bag "needs some TLC" indeed!

Someone got that very distressed Italian Carlyle for $16 shipped - for that price it might be worth trying to restore it, such a pretty little bag! I hope it was a TPFer and they will reveal it here!
